  7. Description:

  9.   1. W940ND.SYS is a NDIS 3.x driver for Windows NT 4.0 Platform.
  10.  
  11.      If there is only one 940 card, the driver will automatically get IOBASE
  12.      and IRQ from PCI Configuration Space.
  13.  
  14.      If there is more than one 940 card, user can indicate a specified 940
  15.      940 card by inputing IDs.
  16.  
  17.      If user does not input an ID to select a specified 940 card, this driver
  18.      will automatically select a free 940 card to load.
  19.  
  20.   2. OEMSETUP.INF is a Network Setup Information File.

  23. Installation:
  24.   A. For Windows NT 4.0:
  25.  
  26.      1. Load W904ND.SYS and W940ND.INF files into local hard disk.
  27.  
  28.      2. Click the 'Network' icon in the Control Panel Group.
  29.  
  30.      3. Click the 'Add' button in the 'Network' Dialog Box.
  31.  
  32.      4. Select the 'Adapter' and click the 'Add' buttom in the 'Network' Dialog
  33.         Box.
  34.  
  35.      5. Click the 'Have Disk' button in the 'Select Network adapters' Dialog Box.
  36.  
  37.      6. Type the path name that contains W940ND.SYS and W940ND.INF files and click
  38.         the 'OK' button.
  39.  
  40.      7. When the 'Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Adapter' dialog box appears, press
  41.         <Enter>.
  42.  
  43.      8. If more than one 940 card is installed on your computer, select a
  44.         specified 940 card by inputing Ethernet ID.
  45.         Select the 'Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Adapter' item in the 'Network'
  46.         Dialog Box.
  47.         Click the 'Advanced' button.
  48.         Select the 'Selected Etherent ID' item.
  49.         Type the Ethernet ID.
  50.         Click the 'OK' button.

  52.      9. When you have finished the installation procedure, click the 'OK' button.

  54.      10.Restart your computer.

  56.   B. For Windows NT 3.5 and 3.51:
  57.  
  58.      1. Load W940ND.SYS and OEMSETUP.INF files into local hard disk.
  59.  
  60.      2. Double-click the 'Control Panel' icon in the 'Main' Program Group.
  61.  
  62.      3. Double-click the 'Network' icon from the 'Control Panel' Window.
  63.  
  64.      4. Click the 'Add Adapter' Button in the 'Network Settings' Dialog Box.
  65.  
  66.      5. When the 'Add Network Adapter' Dialog Box appears, select the '<Other>
  67.         Requires disk from manufacturer'item in the list of network cards and then
  68.         press <Enter>.

  70.      6. Type the path name that contains W940ND.SYS and OEMSETUP.INF files and
  71.         then press <Enter>.
  72.  
  73.      7. Select the 'Winbond 940 PCI Adapter' item in the 'Select OEM Option'
  74.         Dialog Box and then click the 'OK' Button.
  75.  
  76.      8. If there is only one 940 card in your system, click the 'Ignore' Button
  77.         when the 'Input Ethernet ID' Dialog Box appears. Otherwise, type Ethernet
  78.         IDs when the 'Input Ethernet ID' Dialog Box appears and then click the
  79.         'OK' Button.

  81.      9. Bind the adapter to the transport drivers by choosing the 'Binding'
  82.         Button in the 'Network Settings' Dialog Box.

  84.      10.When you finish the installation procedure, click the 'OK' button.

  86.      11.Restart your computer.

  91.   1. boot your computer,
  92.  
  93.   2. If you want to select another 940 card, perform the following steps:
  94.        a. Double-click the 'Control Panel' icon in the 'Main' Program Group.
  95.        b. Double-click the 'Network' Iron from the 'Control Panel' Window.
  96.        c. Select the 'Winbond 940 PCI Adapter' item in the 'Installed Adapter
  97.           Cards' Window and double-click the 'Configure' Button.
  98.        d. When the 'Input Ethernet ID' Dialog Box appears, type the Ethernet
  99.           IDs you want to select and then click the 'OK' button.
  100.        e. Click the 'OK' Button in the 'Network Settings' Dialog Box.
  101.        f. Restart your system.

  104. Trouble Shooting
  105.  
  106.   1. Message: 'At least one service or driver failed during system startup.
  107.                Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.'
  108.      Solution: Make sure
  109.                a. your 940 card is plugged into your system, or
  110.                b. if there is more than one 940 cards, you must indicate a
  111.                   specified 940 card by inputing IDs.
