I've always been pretty impressed at how well d2_e1m1.map played.
I especially thought the single player monsters were well laid out.
I've brightened things up quite a bit, added some lighting effects,
added a few little secrets, opened up the "backyard" up to play.
Added two teleporters and demo cameras. I also fixed the various
booboos in texture alignment, etc. that were obvious.
Hope I didn't complicate things too much.
Skill level controls the number of Boss1 mini bossmonsters.
I didn't want to leave the big guy there because it's always
annoying having the game end suddenly when you kill him. So skill
level 1 has 2 mini bosses, skill level 2 has 3, 3 has 4, 4 has 5
and the theoretical level 5 has 6, yes count them, 6 of the
minibosses. Note that although you can kill 'em much easier
than the real bosses, their machine guns still kill you
VERY quickly. And these guys can follow you through the map too.
Which is nice. So it won't just wander around outside while you
sneek RPG shots into his back.. He'll come after you!
You can shrink them very nicely if you get really close to them
and blast them with the shrinker. But be warned sometimes, they
STILL shoot at you (especially if you shoot at them while they're
shrunk). So you can get creamed by a shrunk miniboss sometimes too.
A few rooms (well not really rooms) have lights that
come on when the doors go up. If you close the
door but make it go up again fast without the door
ever fully closing, the room will be dark although
the door is open. But it will set itself right, once
you close the door fully again.
Blame 3drealms for that one.
