Baty.anim requires an AGA equipped Amiga and was created using the
following combination of hardware and software:
A1200 equipped with MBX-1200, 14mhz 68881, & 6 megs of Ram.
Hitachi VIP-RX8EX LaserDisc player (unfortunately not RS232 controllable).
DCTV, DCTV-Paint, AdPro, & DPaint.
Unbelievable as it may seem, I actually captured frames one at a time
from the Blade Runner Director's Cut LaserDisc (excellent disc) with
DCTV. A little bit of color touch up on each frame, then saved out
as 24bit IFF. Converted down to 256 colors and cropped with AdPro,
then loaded into DPaint for editing. Once in DPaint, I took the basic
captured anim of Baty and made it an anim brush. A couple of simple
manipulations later and the results are an anim to impress my friends
(mostly Mac and PC users, QuickTime sucks!). By the way, the info
on Baty in the animation is transcribed from the film, so it is correct.
Once I get a VLab, I'll upload lots more edits and manipulated anims.
Right now, the DCTV images aren't quite bright enough and its rather
slow to digitize with (and to think I was once amazed with Digiview).
