  36. This Application Note includes a floppy disk containing a run-time
  37. edition of Microsoft Video version 1.1d for Windows. This maintenance
  38. release provides the following improvements and corrections to the
  39. previous version, 1.1a:
  40.  
  41.  - Improved palette support. The new release of MSVIDEO.DLL and the
  42.    Cinepak and Indeo codecs prevent Video for Windows from having to
  43.    dither 24-bit videos twice during playback.
  44.  
  45.  - Display Control Interface (DCI) support. DCI allows Video for
  46.    Windows to provide faster and smoother playback on video cards that
  47.    use the S3, Cirrus Logic, or any one of several other chip sets.
  48.    Video for Windows now also supports all DCI-enabled video cards.
  49.    Furthermore, the performance of stretched and clipped videos is
  50.    much improved for all video cards.

  52.  - Better overall performance.

  54. The improvements implemented in version 1.1a are listed in the section
  55. "Previous Improvements in Version 1.1a" on page 2 of this Application

  86. Previous Improvements in Version 1.1a
  87. -------------------------------------

  89. Maintenance release 1.1a provided the following improvements and
  90. corrections to version 1.0:
  91.  
  92.  - Simultaneous playback of two .AVI files was improved.
  93.  
  94.  - Playback of loosely interleaved or noninterleaved files with
  95.    NetWare(R) Video was improved.
  96.  
  97.  - The compression algorithm was changed to fully meet the official
  98.    Interactive Multimedia Association's adaptive-differential-pulse-
  99.    code-modulation (ADPCM) format specifications.
  100.  
  101.  - Performance of video playback was improved, which corrected a
  102.    problem that caused shaky playback.
  103.  
  104.  - The general protection (GP) fault problem was corrected. This
  105.    problem occurred when you clicked embedded Video 1.1 for Windows
  106.    media objects in OLE 2.0 clients.
  107.  
  108.  - A slight memory leak that occurred with embedded objects was
  109.    corrected.
  110.  
  111.    NOTE: All of the above improvements are also included in version
  112.    1.1d.

  114. To Install the Run-time Edition of Video 1.1d for Windows
  115. ---------------------------------------------------------
  116.  
  117. 1. Insert the enclosed WV1019 disk in the appropriate floppy disk
  118.    drive.
  119.  
  120. 2. In Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu and type
  121.  
  122.       <drive>:\setup
  123.  
  124.    where <drive> is the floppy disk drive containing the WV1019 disk.
  125.    Press ENTER.
  126.  
  127. The Setup program will install the run-time edition of Video 1.1d for
  128. Windows.
