  21. PRICE GUIDE
  22.  
  23. As of the November 1996 POWERdisc, the PRICE GUIDE has been 
  24. completely re-written. Although the functionality that you have
  25. come to expect remains the same, the new version is more intuitive
  26. and user friendly. Screen layouts have been enhanced.
  27.  
  28. The familiar menu bar has been eliminated. The options included
  29. on the menu bar, with the exception of the search options, are
  30. now included on the main screen. The search options are located on the
  31. the Price Guide screen and can be accessed by clicking on the 
  32. SEARCH button.

  34. The Custom Price Book is more dynamic allowing for greater
  35. flexibility in copying or exporting a custom catalog.

  37. An error can occur after using the CREATE CATALOG option 
  38. (on the main screen) and then clicking on the Price Guide button
  39. to access the custom catalog. If the scroll bar is immediately dragged
  40. to the bottom of the Price Guide, an error message may display that the
  41. "Grid index is out of range". If this happens, simply click OK and
  42. the scroll bar will work correctly.

  47. Price Guide Performance Information
  48.  
  49. This new Price Guide is using a new processor and memory intensive routine 
  50. to generate accurate prices for the catalog. As a result, systems running 
  51. Windows 3.1 and Windows 3.11 may experience a performance slump during 
  52. creation of the catalog if swap files or cache size are not sufficient. 
  53. Before creating catalog, make sure that all applications running in the 
  54. background are shut down.

  56. For Windows 3.1, set the swap files to the maximum recommended size.  
  57. For Windows 3.11 (Windows for WorkGroups) if your system is taking  
  58. longer than the benchmark (See below for benchmark), add one to four 
  59. megabytes to the cache size.

  61. Benchmarks for a system running a Pentium 133mhz with 32 megabytes of RAM 
  62. should create a catalog in about 7-15 minutes. A 486 system may require 
  63. three times as long depending on the amount of memory.
