  1. Notes on Music Titles and Composers

  3. Due to the limitaions of eight characters in a DOS filename, the MIDI 
  4. filenames may not clearly identify the title.  Below is a reference table of 
  5. filenames and music titles. 
  6.  
  7. All files are in MIDI format in two versions.  One version is authored for 
  8. Roland Sound Canvas, and the other version is authored for FM based cards 
  9. such as the Sound Blaster series and the Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 
  10. cards.  Wavetable users should use the Sound Canvas versions.

  12. You are encouraged to experiment with editing the files to sound better on 
  13. the device you are using.  Since there are a multitude of sound cards and 
  14. synthesizers on the market today, no collection of MIDI files can possibly 
  15. be distributed with versions tailored to each and every device.  There are 
  16. many software packages available to edit with. The only requirement is that 
  17. the software you choose should support the sound card or interface you have 
  18. and should be able to load and save Standard MIDI Files.

  128. * indicates that these files also have .WAV versions.  These .WAV files are 
  129. recorded at a sampling rate of 22.05KHZ at 16-bit resolution in stereo.  Due 
  130. to size considerations, longer pieces are not included in .WAV format or are 
  131. excerpts.  These .WAV files were created using a Roland Sound Canvas and a 
  132. Kurzweil Micro Piano mixed on a Mackie 1202.  No equalization or external 
  133. processing was used. The only effects are the digital effects onboard each 
  134. instrument.  This process allowed for the cleanest .WAV file production 
  135. possible.
