II] HOW TO START THE DEMO
=======================================================================
After running Setup, click on the Windows Start menu, select Programs,
select Sierra, and then select 3D Ultra Pinball: Thrillride Demo
III] HOW TO PLAY THE DEMO
=======================================================================
You arrive at the game's main table after clicking through the first
few startup screens. The Down Arrow key launches the ball and the left
and right Shift keys control the flippers (see table below).
Control Keys
-----------------------------
Left Flipper : Left Shift
Right Flipper : Right Shift
Left Nudge : Z
Right Nudge : /
Center Nudge : Space
Plunger : Down Arrow
F5 : Toggle between Full-Screen and Windowed modes.
ESC : Exit the demo
Many of the game's features are disabled in this demo, such as the morphing
side table where five different rides can appear. There are also two
mini-tables only found in the full game. Even so, we think you'll have a
lot of fun with it.
To save space in this demo, the graphics and sound are restricted in
quality. The full version of this game supports more vivid settings.
This demo automatically ends when your score reaches or exceeds 2 million.
We hope you enjoy playing this game as much as we do.

IV] TIPS ON SCORING WELL IN THE DEMO
=======================================================================
Skill Shot: Before each new ball is launched, two targets on the
table will be lit up for a brief period of time: the Snack Bar
(Chocolate World) and the Corkscrew ramp (Sooper Dooper Looper).
Hitting either one before the timer expires will score big points
and add to the bonus multiplier.
Thrill Zone: This section is located on the left side of the table
and it is normally closed off. It can be opened by hitting each the
"thrill" zone drop targets (located just left of the Fun Zone).
Once in the Thrill Zone, you take on the Inverted Coaster challenge.
Inverted Coaster (Great Bear): Two inverted coaster tracks pass
over the Thrill Zone, above the reach of the ball. Cars filled
with passengers will pass by on the tracks and the passengers
will be in a position to "kick" the ball as they pass overhead.
Your goal is to make contact with the riderÆs feet with your
pinball at that time and score points. The score doubles if you
donÆt miss any of the cars.
The Fun Zone: This target is to the left of the Log Flume entrance
and has a waterfall over the entrance. Hitting this target when
lit will start the Kissing Tower challenge:
Kissing Tower: A tall tower will appear in the middle of the play
field. Each time you hit the bottom of the tower, the tower car
will climb further up. If you wait too long, the tower will start
going back down. The event ends if the tower car makes it back to
the bottom. Big points will be scored if you get the car to the
top of the tower before you drain your ball.
Thrill Ride Event: This is a major event on the table and begins
when the line wait time reaches zero.
Line Wait Time Remaining: On the table floor is a sign showing
how long the wait is before getting on the rides. When the game
starts, this sign will start out showing 50 minutes. Hitting one
of the three stop watch targets on the table will subtract 5
minutes from this sign. Whenever the wait time reaches zero, then
the "Thrill Ride!" event begins and you will be attempting to ride
the rides for major "thrill" points.
Event: You will start with 10 chances to "ride" (hit with your
pinball) the five rides on the table. Each time you "ride" you
get a rating on the "Thrill Meter" depending on your pinball speed.
If you max out the "Thrill Meter" you will receive a "thrill point"
and the meter will reset. If a ride is not ridden the amount on
the Thrill Meter will begin to decline. The object is to get 10
"Thrill Points" which earns the bonus.
(Bonus Hint: If you hit each of the stop watch targets during the
Thrill Ride event you receive an additional chance to ride.)
V] GENERAL TECHNICAL ISSUES
=======================================================================
FullScreen/Windowed Issues
--------------------------
You will not be able to run in Windowed mode if your computer's
desktop display is less than 1024x768.
Some video cards have color problems after making the switch
between Full-Screen and Windowed modes.
If you ever get a black screen after pressing F5, hit Esc and click
the mouse button until the game ends. Then simply re-run the demo.
The game should run now without any problems.
Minimizing Issue
-----------------
Some systems, particularly Windows 2000, have color glitches
after Minimizing a Full-screen 256-color Thrillride game.
You can get around this by trying to run in Windowed mode.
Sticky Keys
------------
If you use the Windows Accessibility 'sticky keys' feature, it may
cause your computer to display an alert message when you repeatedly
press the SHIFT key.
To fix this problem, you can use the mouse buttons for the flippers,
or you can disable 'sticky keys'.
To disable 'sticky keys':
1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar.
2. On the Settings menu, click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Accessibility Options icon.
4. On the Keyboard tab, clear the 'Use StickyKeys' check box.
5. Click the 'Apply Now' button and 'OK' button.
