How to use CDPLAY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The CDPLAY program allows you to play audio compact discs using the
Chinon CD-ROM drive connected to your system. Before running the
program, make sure that the device driver is installed on your system
and MSCDEX is started.
1. Starting CDPLAY
Type CDPLAY at the MS-DOS command prompt press the ENTER key.
You should see a display like Fig.1.
2. Exiting CDPLAY
Press the ESC key to exit CDPLAY.
3. "Front Panel" Operating Status Display
When the program is running, the screen displays a simulated
audio CD player front panel, similar to Fig.1.

The indicators show the following information:
(1) Track number currently playing or selected
(2) Time from the start of the track currently playing
(3) Time from the start of the disc
(4) Last track number of the disc
(5) Ending time of the disc
The buttons allow control over the audio functions of your Chinon
CD-ROM drive.
Select the desired button with the cursor keys (right, left, up and
down arrow) on the keyboard. The selected button is indicated by
a double-line border. Press the ENTER key or space bar to execute
the function of the selected button.
When using a mouse, simply move the mouse cursor onto the desired
button and press the left mouse button.
(6) Play button
(7) Pause button
Select this button to stop playback temporarily.
To resume playback, select this button again.
(8) Stop button
(9) Skip Back button
Select this button to go to the start of the previous track.
(10) Skip Forward button
Select this button to advance to the beginning of the next track.
(11) Eject button
(12) Fast Reverse button
Select to search backward.
(13) Fast Forward button
Select to search forward.
(14) Display select button
By selecting this button, a list of track numbers and start times
will be displayed on the screen as shown in Fig.2.
Track numbers marked with "*" are CD-ROM data tracks, not audio.
Audio playback can not be performed on these data tracks.
When the contents of the disc is displayed, pressing the ENTER key
or the left mouse button returns to the main "Front Panel" display
of Fig.1.

(15) Repeat A-B button
Selecting this button during playback specifies the start[A] point
of any portion you would like to hear in repeat mode. Selecting
this button again specifies the end[B] point of the portion to be
repeated, and starts the playback of the A-B portion of the disc.
Selecting the button once more stops the repeat A-B playback.
(16) Repeat Single button
Select this button to repeat the current track.
Select it again to cancel this repeat playback.
(17) Repeat All button
Select this button to repeat all tracks on a disc in normal, random
playback, or programmed tracks mode.
Select it again to cancel this repeat playback.
(18) Intro button
Select this button to play the first ten seconds of each track,
and then skip to the beginning of the next track.
Select it again to cancel this playback mode.
(19) Random button
Select this button to automatically play tracks at random.
Select it again to cancel this random playback.
(20) Program button
Select this button to start to play the tracks programmed in (21).
Select it again to cancel this program playback.
(21) Make Program button
Use this button to program a sequence of tracks you want to play.
Selecting this button displays the screen as shown in Fig.3.

(22) Entry window
Displays the track number during programming.
Specify the track number by selecting the numeric buttons (0-9) on
the screen or using the numeric keypad on the keyboard.
(23) Clr button
Select this button to reset the track number in the Entry window
(22) to "0".
(24) Add button
Select this button to add the track number displayed in the display
window (22) to the program sequence.
(25) All Clear button
Select this button to clear all the programmed tracks.
(26) Step Delete button
Select this button to delete the last track programmed.
(27) Program End button
Select this button to end programming and return to the main "Front
Panel" display of Fig. 1, where you can start playing the sequence.
(28) ((((( L button
Use this button to switch the sound ON/OFF of the L(Left) channel.
(29) R ))))) button
Use this button to switch the sound ON/OFF of the R(Right) channel.
(30) Entry window
Displays the track number you want to play.
Specify the track number by selecting the numeric buttons (0-9) on
the screen or using the numeric keypad of the keyboard.
(31) Clr button
Select this button to clear the entry window (30).
(32) Play button
Select this button to start playback from the track number in the
entry window (30).
Notes:
(A) This program supports the device driver of Microsoft mouse. If
you have any other mouse (or don't use a mouse), input "CDPLAY -M"
instead of "CDPLAY" at start.
(B) When more than one CD-ROM drive is connected, you can designate
the drive CDPLAY controls. For drive letter E for instance,
input "CDPLAY E:" when starting CDPLAY.
(C) When using a black-and-white display is connected, use the -B
switch when starting CDPLAY (i.e. input "CDPLAY -B")
