GraphicsENGINE Windows 3.1 driver
Installation:
1) Insert the GraphicsENGINE Driver diskette into drive A.
2) Run the installation file INSTALL.EXE on drive A.
Example: C:\>a:\install
Then select INSTALL's Microsoft Windows 3.1 menu,
press ENTER key and complete the installation.
INSTALL will copy the appropriate files to your default directory.
3) Run Setup program when prompted, selecting option to change the
DISPLAY device and following the instructions to complete the
driver installation.
Hardware Requirements:
* IBM-PC compatible or better CPU.
* GraphicsENGINE board.
Resolution:
Currently the following modes are supported:
* 640 x 480, 256 colors
* 640 x 480, 64K colors
* 640 x 480, 16.7M colors
* 800 x 600, 16 or 256 colors
* 800 x 600, 64K colors
* 1024 x 768, 16 or 256 colors
* 1024 x 768, 64K colors
* 1280 x 1024, 16 or 256 colors
NOTE:
If you have already installed a previous version of the driver, copy
the file ERASEOLD.BAT into the \windows directory and execute it.
Follow this by typing SETUP and reinstall the driver.
Not all modes are supported by all monitors. Attempting to use modes
which yourmonitor does not support will produce unsatisfactory results.
The GraphicsENGINE board is capable of generating more
frequencies and supporting more modes than most VGA cards.
To switch to a different mode, you can either use SW1.EXE (Software
Switch utility on utility floppy) or SW1. (Hardware Switch on board)
Driver Limitations:
1. No pen support at this time.
2. No SWC resolutions at this time.
3. 1280x1024 Non-Interlaced mode may display color and fading problems.
4. VDD limitation of DOSShell colors will change after Alt-Tab to
Windows and back. This only occures in 4-planes.
