  6. This is the READ.ME file for TurboDLD v1.01. It contains
  7. information that has changed or is different from the Installation
  8. Guide, as well as some other useful tips.

  13.  To use the VORTEK drivers with AutoCad versions 11 & 12 you must install
  14.  the 'VESA BIOS' drivers and these VESA drivers must be loaded before
  15.  running AutoCad.
  16.  
  17.  To install the VESA BIOS drivers, insert the VORTEK-VL drivers diskette
  18.  and run the install program by typing in the following commands:
  19.  
  20.                 A:  (or B:)   [Enter Key]
  21.                 INSTALL       [Enter Key]
  22.  
  23.  Select the 'VESA BIOS' Drivers
  24.

  26.    INSTALLATION PROCEDURE for the AUTOCAD DRIVERS:

  29.     This assumes that your Autocad directory is 'C:\ACAD'. If your directory
  30.     is different, please substitute the correct path in the instructions
  31.     below.

  34.      1.Delete ACAD.CFG       in c:\acad

  36.      2.Delete DLDSETUP.DAT   in c:\acad\drv
  37.  
  38.      3.RUN AUTOCAD from the root directory
  39.           acadr12  -r         (-r = to reconfigure your config file)

  43.     CHANGING DRAWING COLORS

  46.     If you wish to change the drawing colors issue the following command
  47.     from the drawing editor:

  55. I. TIPS/ERRATA/FEATURES/REVISIONS
  56. ============================================================
  57.  
  58. - When using TurboDLD with AutoCAD R12, it is not necessary to
  59. run the FASTACAD.BAT file copied during installation. This file
  60. is included for AutoShade only. Likewise the PANA3DS.BAT file is
  61. used for 3D Studio configuration. TurboDLD will be found automatically
  62. via the AutoCAD 12's ACADDRV environment variable. Please be sure
  63. that ACADDRV includes the path to the TurboDLD sub-directory if 
  64. you did not install the driver into \ACAD\DRV.
  65.  
  66. - Please be aware that there is a C1 revision to AutoCAD R12. This
  67. revision corrects various digitizer and plotter problems.
  68.  
  69. - Rendering Resolution options will be available only when
  70. configuring a Rendering device, not directly from the Graphics
  71. Board/Resolution Menu as indicated in the Installation Guide.
  72. Rendering options will appear when AutoCAD R12's AVE Render
  73. is first configured or when configuring 3D Studio or AutoShade.
  74. It may be necessary to reconfigure AVE Render by using the
  75. RCONFIG command at the AutoCAD command prompt. Also note that
  76. TurboDLD is a combined Display/Rendering driver therefore, you
  77. should select that option from AVE Render's configuration menu.
  78.  
  79. - Erasing small objects may result in a few stray pixels being
  80. left on the screen. Issue a REDRAW to remove them from the
  81. screen.
  82.  
  83. - The PMODELINE width is as large as possible given the
  84. current screen dimensions and font character size. If less
  85. area is desired, switch to a smaller font size.
  86.  
  87. - There is no longer a Remove or Overwrite mode for the Display
  88. List. TurboDLD functions as the Remove mode did in previous DLD
  89. versions, eliminating flashing of erased vectors, without affecting
  90. performance.

  92. - For those persons with low CPU RAM and less than 20mb of available hard
  93. disk space you should use the -SWAPCHK ON switch to configure AutoCAD. 
  94. This switch will give you the option of saving your drawing when AutoCAD
  95. starts to run out of disk space.   The way you configure this is to change
  96. into your AutoCAD program sub-directory and at the prompt type:
  97.         
  98.         CFIG386 ACAD -SWAPCHK ON
  99.  
  100. - For additional information on the TurboDLD driver, issue the following
  101. command from the drawing editor:

  105.     A list of TurboDLD features will be displayed; press the F1 key to view
  106.     more information on each command.
