  33.   Introduction
  34.   ------------
  35.   This document provides step-by-step instructions for the 
  36.   installation of Hercules Dynamite drivers for Lotus 1-2-3 
  37.   Release 2, 2.01, 2.2, or Symphony Release 1.1.
  38.  
  39.   Six drivers for Lotus 1-2-3 Release 2, 2.01, 2.2, and Symphony 
  40.   Release 1.1 are provided on the Hercules Dynamite Supplemental 
  41.   Drivers Diskette in the \LOTUS subdirectory. 
  42.  
  43.   These drivers support all the text modes of Dynamite: 80x25, 
  44.   80x60, 132x25, 132x28, and 132x44. There is one driver 
  45.   dedicated to each of these five modes. Each of these drivers, 
  46.   when selected as the active text display for a Lotus product, 
  47.   Lotus programs and utilities (1-2-3, Translate, Symphony, 
  48.   Printgraph, etc.) will display in the selected format. For 
  49.   example, if the 132x28 driver has been selected in the 
  50.   installation procedure, as described below, then the 
  51.   spreadsheet will display 132 columns by 28 rows of text when 
  52.   1-2-3 is run.
  53.  
  54.   There is an "All Color Text Modes" driver provided which 
  55.   supports all five text display modes of Dynamite. When this 
  56.   driver is selected, each time you enter an individual Lotus 
  57.   program or utility, you are offered the choice of any of the 
  58.   five display modes. This allows you to switch between 
  59.   80-column and 132-column displays without reconfiguring your 
  60.   Lotus program.
  61.  
  62.   We have provided six drivers to give you complete flexibility in
  63.   configuring Lotus products to meet your needs. If you always 
  64.   want a 132x28 display, install the 132x28 driver and you will 
  65.   automatically get that display every time you start a program 
  66.   from the Lotus or Access menu. If you want the 80x25 display 
  67.   most of the time for speed and reading ease, but want to be 
  68.   able to switch to the 132x44 display quickly to get an overall 
  69.   view of your spreadsheets, install the "All Color Text Modes" 
  70.   driver and select the desired display each time you start 1-2-3 
  71.   or Symphony. We've left you the freedom to pick the drivers 
  72.   that are right for you.
  73.  
  74.   Note: When you are using the "All Color Text Modes" driver, 
  75.   whenever you enter the Translate utility from the Lotus or 
  76.   Access menu, you should have 80x25 mode selected. The Translate 
  77.   utility operates differently from the other programs and 
  78.   utilities, and often does not show 132-column displays properly 
  79.   from the "All Color Text Modes" driver. Also, the Install 
  80.   utility always comes up in 80-column mode, no matter what 
  81.   driver is used.

  83.   Because Dynamite is fully IBM Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA)-
  84.   compatible, the Enhanced Graphic Adapter drivers should be 
  85.   initially installed, and then the appropriate Dynamite driver, 
  86.   as discussed above, should be installed as the text display. 
  87.   When initially installing the EGA drivers, it is important that 
  88.   the drivers (called IBM Enhanced Graphics in 1-2-3 and Separate 
  89.   in Symphony) be installed.

  94.   Installation Instructions
  95.   -------------------------
  96.   Before installing the Dynamite text drivers, be sure that you 
  97.   have read "GETTING STARTED" in the Lotus 1-2-3 or the Lotus 
  98.   Symphony documentation. This documentation assumes that you are 
  99.   familiar with the Install program and procedures outlined in the 
  100.   Lotus documentation. The Lotus Install program permits new 
  101.   drivers to be added to the driver library via the "Add New 
  102.   Drivers to Library" option of the Advanced Options Menu. Once 
  103.   the Dynamite text drivers are added to the library you may 
  104.   select them via the "Modify Current Driver Set" option of the 
  105.   Advanced Options Menu. Please note that two separate sets of 
  106.   installation instructions are provided below, one for hard disk 
  107.   installation and one for diskette installation. Select the 
  108.   appropriate one for your particular system and follow only that 
  109.   set of instructions.

  114.   Hard Disk System Installation
  115.   -----------------------------
  116.   After copying the files from your Lotus diskettes to your hard 
  117.   disk as instructed in the Lotus documentation, you need to copy 
  118.   the Dynamite drivers from the \LOTUS subdirectory contained on 
  119.   the Hercules Dynamite Supplemental Drivers Diskette to the 
  120.   subdirectory which contains your Lotus 1-2-3 or Lotus Symphony 
  121.   files. The following steps will copy the drivers to your Lotus 
  122.   1-2-3 or Lotus Symphony subdirectory. The examples here assume 
  123.   that Lotus 1-2-3 is in the subdirectory named 123 or that Lotus 
  124.   Symphony is in the subdirectory named SYMPH. If you have chosen 
  125.   another subdirectory name, simply substitute that name in the 
  126.   following steps:

  129.    1)  At the DOS C:> prompt change to the subdirectory which 
  130.        contains your Lotus files. Select the correct command 
  131.        depending on which Lotus software you have. If installing 
  132.        the drivers into subdirectory \123:
  133.       
  134.        Type "CD\123" [Enter].
  135.  
  136.        If installing the drivers into subdirectory \SYMPH:
  137.  
  138.        Type "CD\SYMPH" [Enter].
  139.  
  140.    2)  Insert the Hercules Dynamite Supplemental Drivers
  141.        Diskette into drive "A".
  142.  
  143.  
  144.    3) Type "COPY A:\LOTUS\*.DRV" [Enter]. This step will copy 
  145.       the drivers from the Hercules Dynamite Supplemental Drivers
  146.       Diskette to your Lotus subdirectory.
  147.  
  148.    4) Perform the First-Time Installation of your Lotus product.
  149.       Refer to the Lotus "GETTING STARTED" documentation for 
  150.       instructions on running the Install program. Select the 
  151.       First-Time Installation option from the main menu. The 
  152.       Install program will guide you through the procedure of 
  153.       selecting the drivers you want. Remember that Dynamite 
  154.       supports the IBM Enhanced Graphics format, so you should 
  155.       select the EGA Adapter for the initial text and graphics 
  156.       screen display device. The Install program will also ask 
  157.       questions pertaining to the printer and other devices 
  158.       connected to your system. When you have completed the 
  159.       driver selection, press the F10 function key to display 
  160.       the current driver selections. Please note that the Text 
  161.       Display and Graph Display selections must match the samples 
  162.       below in order to use the Dynamite text drivers. You may 
  163.       want to create several driver sets, and experiment to see 
  164.       which suits your needs. When you have completed your 
  165.       selections, the Install program saves the drivers you 
  166.       select in a file, or driver set, called 123.SET for Lotus 
  167.       1-2-3 or LOTUS.SET for Lotus Symphony. When prompted, 
  168.       respond that you do not want to leave the Install program 
  169.       at this time. Continue with step 5; you are now ready to 
  170.       install the Dynamite text drivers.

  172.       When installing Lotus 1-2-3 your selections should look 
  173.       like:
  174.         Text Display    IBM Enhanced Graphics
  175.         Graph Display   IBM Enhanced Graphics
  176.         Keyboard        IBM Keyboard
  177.         Printer Int.    IBM Printer Interface
  178.         File Trans.     IBM PC or compatible
  179.         Collating       Numbers first or other choice

  182.         Printer         None or the printer you selected
  183.         Graph Printer   None printer you selected

  185.       When installing Lotus Symphony your selections should look 
  186.       like:
  187.         Text Display    Universal Text Display - Separate
  188.         Graph Display   IBM Enhanced Graphics - Separate
  189.         Keyboard        IBM Keyboard
  190.         Printer Int.    IBM Printer Interface
  191.         Comm Port       None or the comm port you selected
  192.         Modem           None or the modem you selected
  193.         Comm Protocol   None or the protocol you selected
  194.         File Trans.     IBM PC or compatible
  195.         Collating       Numbers first or other choice
  196.         Math Unit       Co-processor Floating Point Driver
  197.         Software        Floating Point Driver Text 
  198.         Printer         None or the printer you selected
  199.         Graph Printer   None or the printer you selected

  201.    5) You should be in the Main Menu of the Install program at 
  202.       this point. Select Advanced Options from the Install Main 
  203.       Menu and press [Enter].
  204.  
  205.    6) The Advanced Options Menu will appear on your screen. 
  206.       Select Add New Drivers to Library and press [Enter]. 
  207.       Note that this step only needs to be performed once.
  208.  
  209.    7) The Install program will ask you to press [Enter]. This 
  210.       step creates a file named SINGLE.LBR which contains the 
  211.       drivers we are adding. (Step 3 above copied the drivers 
  212.       from the Hercules Dynamite Supplemental Drivers Diskette 
  213.       to your Lotus subdirectory, so you are all set to go.)
  214.  
  215.    8) The Advanced Options Menu will appear on your screen. 
  216.       Select Modify Current Driver Set and press [Enter].
  217.  
  218.    9) The current drivers selected will appear on your screen. 
  219.       Select Text Display and press [Enter].
  220.  
  221.   10) The text display drivers will appear on your screen. Select 
  222.       the VGA driver you want to use and press [Enter]. As 
  223.       discussed earlier, the available drivers for VGA are:
  224.  
  225.       VGA Adapter (All Color Text Modes)
  226.       VGA Adapter (80x25 Color Text Only)
  227.       VGA Adapter (80x60 Color Text Only)
  228.       VGA Adapter (132x25 Color Text Only)
  229.       VGA Adapter (132x28 Color Text Only)
  230.       VGA Adapter (132x44 Color Text Only)
  231.  
  232.   11) The currently selected drivers will appear on your screen. 
  233.       Verify that the VGA driver you selected appears in the Text 
  234.       Display field. Select Return to Menu and press [Enter].
  235.  
  236.   12) The Advanced Options Menu will appear on your screen. 
  237.       Select Save Changes and press [Enter].
  238.  
  239.   13) At this time the Install program prompts you for the name 
  240.       of your driver set. Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Symphony permit 
  241.       selection of the driver set to use when you start the 
  242.       program. If you want to name the driver set, type the name 
  243.       and then press [Enter]. For example, if you selected the 
  244.       VGA Display (132x28) driver you may wish to name it VGA28. 
  245.       To save the current driver set using the default name of 
  246.       123 for Lotus 1-2-3 or LOTUS for Lotus Symphony simply 
  247.       press [Enter]. These default driver sets will be used 
  248.       automatically if you do not explicitly select another 
  249.       driver set when you run Lotus or Access.
  250.  
  251.   14) The Install program will inform you that the driver set has 
  252.       been saved. Press [Enter]. The Exit Menu will appear on 
  253.       your screen. You can create additional driver sets at any 
  254.       time by selecting the Advanced Options Menu, Modify Current 
  255.       Driver Set, and Save Changes procedures of the Install 
  256.       program (steps 8 through 13 above). If you want to create 
  257.       additional driver sets now, press [Enter] to go to the Main 
  258.       Menu. Don't forget to use a different name for each driver 
  259.       you save. When you are finished select "Yes" and press 
  260.       [Enter] to exit the Install program.
  261.  
  262.   15) Refer to the Starting and Ending chapter of the Lotus 
  263.       "GETTING STARTED" documentation to learn how to start 
  264.       Lotus 1-2-3 or Lotus Symphony. Below are some examples of 
  265.       how to select a different driver set when starting the 
  266.       program. Depending on your particular installation you may 
  267.       need to have the Lotus System Disk in drive "A".
  268.  
  269.   If you are starting Lotus 1-2-3:
  270.   Type "LOTUS" [Enter] to use the default driver set named 123. 
  271.   Type "LOTUS VGA28" [Enter], where VGA28 is the name of the 
  272.   driver set you created used for 132 column by 28 row display 
  273.   on your Dynamite board.
  274.  
  275.   Note: The VGA mode selection pop-up menu is available when the 
  276.   VGA Card (All Color Text Modes) driver has been selected. It is 
  277.   activated by pressing the Ctrl and A keys simultaneously. 
  278.   Select the desired mode by moving the cursor until the mode 
  279.   you want is highlighted. Press [ENTER]. This will cause the 
  280.   system to beep indicating that your choice has been accepted. 
  281.   You must then exit to DOS or the LOTUS (or SYMPHONY) ACCESS 
  282.   menu depending on how you entered the program and where you 
  283.   made the mode selection. Modes can be selected in the ACCESS 
  284.   menu or the 1-2-3 screen. EXITing or QUITing from ACCESS or 
  285.   1-2-3 will put your mode selection in effect as you re-enter 
  286.   the program. Your last mode selection will be the mode in 
  287.   which the program next starts.

  289.   If you are starting Lotus Symphony:
  290.   Type "ACCESS" and press [Enter] to use the default driver set 
  291.   named LOTUS. Type "ACCESS VGA28" and press [Enter], where VGA28 
  292.   is the name of the driver set you created used for 132 column 
  293.   by 28 row display on your Dynamite board. See the previous NOTE.

  298.   Diskette System Installation
  299.   ----------------------------
  300.   Before you begin, be sure that you have made backup diskette 
  301.   copies of the Lotus 1-2-3 or Lotus Symphony diskettes as 
  302.   instructed in the Lotus documentation. You also need a blank 
  303.   formatted diskette to hold any driver sets you make; label this 
  304.   diskette "Lotus Driver Sets". The following steps will read the 
  305.   Dynamite text drivers and create a file named SINGLE.LBR on 
  306.   your backup Utility Disk.
  307.  
  308.    1) Perform the First-Time Installation of your Lotus product. 
  309.       Refer to the Lotus "GETTING STARTED" documentation for 
  310.       instructions on running the Install program. The Install 
  311.       program is found on your backup Utility Disk. Select the 
  312.       First-Time Installation option from the main menu. The 
  313.       Install program will guide you through the procedure of 
  314.       selecting the drivers you want. Remember that Dynamite 
  315.       supports the IBM Enhanced Graphics Format, so you should 
  316.       select the EGA Adapter for the initial text and graphics 
  317.       screen display device. The Install program will also ask 
  318.       questions pertaining to the printer and other devices 
  319.       connected to your system.

  321.       When you have completed the driver selection, press the

  374.       containing the drivers into drive "A". Insert the 
  375.       Hercules Dynamite Supplemental Drivers Diskette into 
  376.       drive "A" and press RETURN.

  378.    5) The Install program will ask you to insert the backup 
  379.       Utility Disk into drive "A" and press [Enter]. A file 
  380.       named SINGLE.LBR containing the VGA drivers will be 
  381.       created on the backup Utility Disk. The Install 
  382.       program will inform you that the new drivers are now 
  383.       installed; press [Enter].

  385.    6) The Advanced Options Menu will appear on your screen. 
  386.       Select Modify Current Driver Set and press [Enter].
  387.  
  388.    7) The current drivers selected will appear on your screen. 
  389.       Select Text Display and press [Enter].
  390.  
  391.    8) The text display drivers will appear on your screen. Select 
  392.       the VGA driver you want to use. As discussed earlier, the 
  393.       available drivers for VGA are:
  394.  
  395.       VGA Adapter (All Color Text Modes)
  396.       VGA Adapter (80x25 Color Text Only)
  397.       VGA Adapter (80x60 Color Text Only)
  398.       VGA Adapter (132x25 Color Text Only)
  399.       VGA Adapter (132x28 Color Text Only)
  400.       VGA Adapter (132x44 Color Text Only)

  402.    9) The currently selected drivers will appear on your screen. 
  403.       Select Return to Menu and press [Enter].

  405.   10) The Advanced Options Menu will appear on your screen. 
  406.       Select Save Changes and press [Enter].

  408.   11) At this time the Install program prompts you for the name 
  409.       of your driver set. Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Symphony permit 
  410.       selection of the driver set to use when your start the 
  411.       program. If you want to name the driver set, type the name 
  412.       and then press [Enter]. For example, if you selected the 
  413.       VGA Display (132x28) driver you may wish to name it VGA28. 
  414.       You will not have enough space for all your driver sets on 
  415.       the Lotus System Disk. When the Install program asks you 
  416.       for the system disk be sure to insert the Lotus Driver 
  417.       Sets Disk.
  418.  
  419.   12) The Install program will inform you that the driver set has 
  420.       been saved, press [ESC] two times. The Main Menu will 
  421.       appear on your screen. You can create additional driver 
  422.       sets at anytime by selecting the Advanced Options Menu, 
  423.       Modify Current Driver Set, and Save Changes procedures of 
  424.       the Install program (steps 6 through 11 above). Don't 
  425.       forget to use a different name for each driver you save. 
  426.       When you are finished, select Exit Install Program and 
  427.       press [Enter] to exit the Install program.

  429.   13) Refer to the Starting and Ending chapter of the Lotus 
  430.       "GETTING STARTED" documentation to learn how to start Lotus 
  431.       1-2-3 or Lotus Symphony. Place the Lotus Driver Sets Disk 
  432.       into drive "B".  Following are some examples of how to 
  433.       select a different driver set when starting the program.

  440.   Type "LOTUS" [Enter] to use the default driver set named 123.

  442.   Type "LOTUS B:VGA28" [Enter], where VGA28 is the name of the
  443.   driver set used for 132 column by 28 row display on Dynamite.

  445.   Type "LOTUS B:VGA44" [Enter], where VGA44 is the name of the
  446.   driver set used for 132 column by 44 row display on 
  447.   Dynamite.

  449.   NOTE: The VGA mode selection pop-up menu is available when
