  32. Note on the 640x480 16M-color drivers
  33.  
  34.     Driver1 (S3A6448T.DRV) should work with most S3 86C911A/924 based
  35.     VGA GUI accelerator cards. If Driver1 does not work, please try
  36.     Driver2 (S3B6448T.DRV) which sets a different pixel clock frequency.

  38. Known Bugs

  41. The following problems are known bugs, they will be fixed on next release.
  42. Any bug/problem report is very welcome.

  44.     * Due to a hardware problem of the 86C924 chip, in 640x480 16M-color
  45.       mode, three lines on the left side edge of the screen are missing.
  46.       Also, some time a red line may appear on the left edge of the screen.
  47.  
  48.     * In Microsoft WINDOWS Display Compatibility Test, the following
  49.       tests fail
  50.       1. DTA MISC ROP3 operations 41,4e,62,6d,6e,91,92,9d,b1,be
  51.       2. DIBVIEW BITMAP FORMAT TEST

  53. Installation
  54. ------------

  56. 1. First install MS Windows 3.X using the standard IBM VGA driver.
  57.  
  58. 2. Make sure Windows 3.X is working properly.
  59.  
  60. 3. Change to Windows 3.X directory (e.g. c:\windows), run SETUP.EXE.
  61.  
  62. 4. Insert enclosed disk, change display driver to "Other...".
  63.  
  64. 5. Enter the path of the HiCOLOR driver (e.g. A:\ ).
  65.  
  66. 6. Select a suitable HiCOLOR driver.

  68. 7. Follow instructions to finish SETUP.

  72. IMPORTANT NOTE
  73. ==============

  75. If you have installed previous version of the Windows 3.0 HiCOLOR drivers
  76. from Sierra Semiconductor Corp., you will have to delete the old HiCOLOR
  77. driver files BEFORE you use SETUP to install the new drivers, otherwise
  78. SETUP will NOT copy the new driver files to your Windows 3.0 directory.
  79. The files which you should delete are in Windows 3.0 SYSTEM sub-directory
  80. (e.g. c:\windows\system\ ), they might be:
