This option allows you to select the state of the
power-up configuration of your STEREO F/X■CD card.
These changes are permanent and remain valid until
altered by this option again.
3
Here are some handy test routines to verify the
configuration of the STEREO F/X■CD card. Make sure
that you have set the power-up configuration
before testing the card.
4
This option allows you to copy the audio software
to your harddisk. Approximately 2,400,000 bytes of
free disk space is required in the destination
drive.
5
Set the audio hardware power-up configuration, such
as port address, IRQ level, input level or disable
the audio hardware of your STEREO F/X■CD card.
6
Set the CD-ROM hardware power-up configuration,
such as IRQ level, DMA channel 3 or disable
the CD-ROM hardware of your STEREO F/X■CD card.
The CD-ROM port address is controlled by the
audio hardware port address, but is selectable if
the audio hardware is disabled.
7
Set the speed or disable the (joystick) gameport.
Some joystick applications are machine speed
dependent, so if you have a fast machine,
choose the "fast" option.
8
Set the audio hardware port address of the
STEREO F/X■CD card. This must not conflict
with other existing cards. The CD-ROM
hardware port address will be affected as
well, but it can be selected independently
when the audio hardware is disabled.
Recommended setting: Port 220h
9
Set the audio hardware interrupt level. This
must not conflict with other existing
interrupts. The interrupt controller is
checked to see if another device has allocated
the interrupt. If so, this program will query
you to be sure if that interrupt should
be chosen.
Recommended setting: IRQ7
10
Set the mic/line input for line or mic levels
(upon powerup). The mic setting compensates
for microphone levels, which are much weaker
signals than line levels from, for example a CD
player.
11
Enable with the above settings:
Enable the audio hardware of the STEREO F/X■CD
card, using the currently displayed settings.
Disable Audio Hardware:
Disable the audio hardware of the STEREO F/X■CD
card.
Keep Changes, Return to the previous menu:
Return to the "Set Power-up Configuration"
menu, keeping any changes you have made. If
wish to discard the changes, hit the <Esc>
key instead.
12
Set the CD-ROM port address of the STEREO F/X■CD
card. This must not conflict with other existing
cards. If the audio hardware is enabled the
CD-ROM port address will be changed according
to the audio port address.
Recommended setting: Port 310h
13
Set the CD-ROM interrupt level. This must not
conflict with other existing interrupts. The
interrupt controller is checked to see if another
device has allocated an interrupt. If so, this
program will query you to be sure if that
interrupt should be chosen.
Recommended setting: IRQ5
14
This enables or disables DMA 3 for the CD-ROM
interface. Because the software transfer mode
CD-ROM device driver normally provides better
overall performance, it is recommended to
disable DMA 3 on this card. Enable DMA 3 only
when you need to use the DMA transfer mode
CD-ROM device driver, but make sure that you
do not have another card in your system that
already uses DMA 3.
Recommeded setting: DMA 3 Off
15
Enable with the above settings:
Enable the CD-ROM hardware of the STEREO F/X■CD
card, using the currently displayed settings.
Disable CD-ROM Hardware:
Disable the CD-ROM hardware of the STEREO F/X■CD
card.
Keep changes, Return to the previous menu:
Return to the "Set Power-up Configuration"
menu, keeping any changes you have made. If
wish to discard the changes, hit the <Esc>
key instead.
16
This sets the speed of the (joystick) gameport
to fast. Some joystick applications are machine
speed dependent, so if you have a slow machine,
choose the "slow" option.
17
This sets the speed of the (joystick) gameport
to slow. Some joystick applications are machine
speed dependent, so if you have a fast machine,
choose the "fast" option.
18
This disables the (joystick) gameport.
19
This sets the audio port address to 220h. If
the CD-ROM hardware is enabled, the CD-ROM
port address will be set to 310h. Please be
sure that the addresses are not being used
by other hardware in your system.
20
This sets the audio port address to 240h. If
the CD-ROM hardware is enabled, the CD-ROM
port address will be set to 320h. Please be
sure that the addresses are not being used
by other hardware in your system.
21
This sets the audio interrupt level to IRQ2.
Please be sure that this interrupt level is
not being used by other hardware in your
system. This program will try to detect any
IRQ conflict and query you about the
selection.
22
This sets the audio interrupt level to IRQ5.
Please be sure that this interrupt level is
not being used by other hardware in your
system. This program will try to detect any
IRQ conflict and query you about the
selection.
23
This sets the audio interrupt level to IRQ7.
Please be sure that this interrupt level is
not being used by other hardware in your
system. This program will try to detect any
IRQ conflict and query you about the
selection.
24
Set the default mic/line for mic level. This
setting should be used for low level inputs such as
microphones.
25
Set the default mic/line input for line level. This
setting should be used for high level inputs such
as CD and tape decks.
26
This sets the CD-ROM port address to 310h.
Please be sure that this address is not being
used by other hardware in your system.

not being used by other hardware in your
system. This program will try to detect any
IRQ conflict and query you about the
selection.
30
This sets the CD-ROM interrupt level to IRQ5.
Please be sure that this interrupt level is
not being used by other hardware in your
system. This program will try to detect any
IRQ conflict and query you about the
selection.
31
This enables DMA 3 for the CD-ROM interface.
If you use Genesis CD-ROM device driver version
1.4 or older, enabling DMA 3 will improve your
CD-ROM performance. However, if you have another
card in your system that uses DMA 3, you will
need to disable it on this card.
32
This disables DMA 3 for the CD-ROM interface.
Disabling DMA 3 and use the software transfer
mode CD-ROM device driver will improve your
CD-ROM performance unless you use Genesis CD-ROM
device driver version 1.4 or older.
33
A short example sound file will be played on
the left channel only.
34
A short example sound file will be played on
the right channel only.
35
A short mono sound file will be played.
36
A few notes will be played from the FM sound
generator chips.
37
MIDI output test - a MIDI note-on (channel 1, middle C)
will be sent to the MIDI output. If you have a synthesizer
connected to the MIDI output of your card, it will play
the note.
38
MIDI input test - send a MIDI note-on to the
STEREO■FX card, and its value will be displayed.
NOTE: If your synthesizer is in running status mode,
this test will wait for a new valid MIDI start
command - so try changing parameters, or mod wheels,
etc., on your keyboard.
39
Joystick test - move the joystick around and
position and button information will be
displayed. The joystck must be enabled for
this test to work correctly.
40
