music related files form all around the world.
===========================================================================
Here is a list of some important files and directories:
docs\ Directory of documentation files concerning this disc.
setup2\ Directory of optional setup.exe. This version simply
installs the icon and references your CDROM for the Music
Workshop program and will take hardly any hard disk space.
mcd\unzipped\ Directory where all programs that Music Workshop
accesses will be found.
mcd\allzip\ Directory of compressed versions of all programs.
misc\ Directory of miscellaneous files. Use File Manager to access
them. Many great files that didn't make it in time to get
on the interface.
librars\ Directory of libraries like VBRUN300, 200, 100, etc.
utils\ Directory of unzip.exe.
===========================================================================
To install this CDROM into your Windows setup:
1) Start up Windows.
2a) From the Program Manager, choose the RUN option under the FILE
Menu, then enter "D:setup.exe" at the run option bar. (Substitute
your CDROM drive letter for "D" if it is different. For the Optional
Small Disk-Space Setup, enter "D:\setup2\setup.exe.")
or
2b) From the File Manager, click on the icon for your CDROM drive near
the top of the window, then double click on the appropriate "setup
dir" and double click the setup.exe file.
===========================================================================
Some important notes:
Many of the programs on this CDROM require that you have a sound card
and/or MIDI capabilities. If you don't, these programs will either
give you an error message stating that, or simply not run.
- Make sure your Sound Card is installed correctly.
- Make sure you have your drivers installed correctly (like the
[MCI] CD Audio if you intend to use some of the players).
===========================================================================
To install the [MCI] CD Audio driver:
1) open "Main" program group.
2) double-click "Control Panel".
3) double-click "Drivers".
4) If it's not in the list of "Installed Drivers" then click "Add".
5) Scroll to the driver you want to install (in this case [MCI] CD
Audio.)
6) Push "OK".
7) You will probably be asked if you want to Restart Windows. You
will need to do so at some time for the driver to take effect.
------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are installing a driver that is not currently on your system:
1) open "Main" program group.
2) double-click "Control Panel".
3) double-click "Drivers".
4) If it's not in the list of "Installed Drivers" then click "Add".
5) "Select Unlisted or Updated driver."
6) Either enter the location and name of the driver or use "Browse"
to find it.
===========================================================================
Troubleshooting:
If a program doesn't run, try the following;
1: If a file has a Setup option, click it to setup the program. This
installs fonts, dlls, etc. which insures proper operation.
2: Try running the program from the File Manager. If a program is
very large, you may not have enough memory to run it from within
Music Workshop. You may have to quit Music Workshop, then go into
File Manager if you are very low on memory.
3: Copy a compressed version of the file from the appropriate
directory in d:\mcd\allzip\...Then use unzip.exe from the Utils\
directory to decompress it. Then try installing it from the File
Manager.
===========================================================================
To install a program you copied onto your hard drive from the CDROM
so it displays an icon in your applications group, you can do one of
two things:
1) First select Windows Setup in the "Main" Group.
Select Options in the menu bar.
Select "Set Up Applications."
Select "Ask You to Specify An Application."
Type the path and name of the program you'd like to install.
Windows setup will copy the program's icon into the Application
Group and set up the program to run from the icon.
For example, to make an permanent icon for CDaudio after copying
it to your local hard drive, type:
c:\musicws\players\cdaudio\cdaudio.exe
into the "Specify An Application" box.
2) Start up File Manager, then locate the executable program (which
usually ends in .EXE or .COM) you wish to install.
Drag that program icon to your Applications program group inside
your Program Manager window, then release the mouse button. The icon
will now be in your Applications window, and the program can now be
run from that icon.
===========================================================================
Some applications may require vbrun100.dll, vbrun200.dll, or
vbrun300.dll. These files are provided in the \libs\ directory of
the CDROM.
===========================================================================

you the most up to date version of the program and a printed manual.
Please check the individual files for specific information. Please
help support shareware by contributing to these authors. They make
discs like this possible.
