Side by Side Screen Help:
From the "Side by Side" screen you can see tabular information
simultaneously with the mapped separations of a given channel. The
"<", ">", "Class", "Channel", "Run" and "Data" buttons work the
same as they do on the "Main" screen. The "Fill" button will cause
the minimum separation circles to be filled in with a redish color
which indicates where on the map you can not locate an FM
transmitter. Clicking the button a second time will remove the fill
color. The "Call" button on this screen toggles the call letters
shown on the map on or off. The "ID" button will identify the names
of the cities shown on the map. Cities show up as small
purple/redish circles. To identify one first click the "ID" button
then click the city token shown on the map. The city's name will
show up next to the city token. You need to be careful with the "ID"
command because of the move feature we are about to describe. You
may move to any location simply by clicking your mouse at the
desired spot on the map. You need not click any command button
before you issue a move. (So if you forget to click the "ID" button
first when trying to identify a city, the computer will think you
wish to move to the spot you click and you will have to wait until
the computer is done moving your reference station to your clicked
spot.)
Moves on the map of 100 kilometers or less do not require the
computer to re-acquire new data from the FCC database while moves
of over 100 kilometers will take longer to perform since the
computer will actually access the database again to perform a new
study so when the stations needed are collected your map will have
all the stations required to hold up complete accuracy for the new
location.
There are two scroll bars on the "/M/" screen. The top bar is the
"zoom" scroll bar. This scroll bar changes the scale of the
displayed map allowing you to zoom in and out on the map. The lower
scroll bar is a "stations" scroll which when moved down adds more
stations to your map at increasing distances from the reference.
The tick marks on the vertical and horizontal cross-bars represent
60 minutes of longitude and latitude respectively.
The "Print" command on this screen will print a copy of the entire
"/M/" screen to your printer. This screen print function has a
considerably lower resolution than the "print" screen function of
the "Map" screen.
The "Main" button will return you to the main tabular display
screen which is the first screen shown after starting the program
and after doing new searches.
The "Map" button will take you the "Map" screen which is a larger
representation of the map shown on the "/M/" screen.
