Title: Apache Tears Afghan

Materials: 72 oz of "Superlon" yarn - 9 oz each of eight colors
Crochet Hook size "H"
Approximate Size: 50 x 72 inches
Notes: (1) Each row is worked from the right side, bbeginning at right
edge by leaving 6" of yarn at beginning of row and 6" of yarn
when fastening off at the ends of row. These strands are for
fringes.
(2) Change colors every four rows.
(3) Work all sc in back loop of st in previous row, wor all tr in
front loop of st 3 rows below, sk sc behind.
Instructions: Chain 254 with Color A.
Rows 1-4: Sc across.
Row 5: *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc, repeat from * across.
Row 6: Sc in first tr, *tr in st 3 rows below, sc in nest 6 sts,
repeat from * across.
Row 7: Sc in first 2 sts, *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc,
repeat from * across.
Row 8: Sc in first 3 sts, *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc,
repeat from * across.
Row 9: Sc in first 4 sts, *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc,
repeat from * across.
Row 10: Sc in first 5 sts, *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc,
repeat from * across.
Row 11: Sc in first 6 sts, *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc,
repeat from * across.
Row 12: *Tr in st 3 rows below, sc in next 6 sc, repeat from * across.
Repeat Rows 6-12 for Pattern. With each new row, the tear is one st
over from the previous row. Repeat color sequence of A-H for
a total of 5 times.
Finishing: Knot 2 adjusting strand on sides close to work. If desired,
make fringe to match on ends.

Material: 4 skeins each Red, Gray and White 4-ply yarn

size "G" crochet hook
Each row is worked separately; do not turn work, leave a 4 inch end of
yarn at start and end of rows for fringe.
All single stitches are made in back loop of sts. All double sts are made
in the front loop of st in second row from one being worked on.
Start with black for the border. Chain 245 and break yarn.
Border: Row 1 thru 5: Sc in each st across with border color (black).
Row 6: Sc in 2 sc, 1 dc, (19 sc, 1 dc), end with 2 sc. Be sure to drop
1 sc behind each double st.
Repeat pattern in ( ).
Red: Row 7: 3 sc, 1 dc, (17 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc).
Row 8: 4 sc, 1 dc, (15 sc, 1 dc, 3 sc, 1 dc).
Row 9: 5 sc, 1 dc, (13 sc, 1 dc, 5 sc, 1 dc).
Grey: Row 10: 6 sc, 1 dc, (11 sc, 1 dc, 7 sc, 1 dc).
Row 11: 7 sc, 1 dc, (9 sc, 1 dc, 9 sc, 1 dc).

Repeat Rows 15, 14, and 13.
Repeat Rows 12, 11, and 10.
Repeat Rows 9, 8, and 7.
Repeat Row 6, then begin pattern again with Row 7.
When afghan reaches desired size, repeat Rows 1 thru 5 after Row 6 to
complete pattern.
