Throw rugs from dry cleaner plastic bags.
Slit the bags open down one side and then cut into strips,
about 16 inches wide. For thickness, join a few strips
together at one time with rubber cement.
When crocheting always place the strips behind your yarn, making
your single crochets around the strips.
Use 4-ply yardn and a #8 crochet hook.
You may find that nore or fewer chains are needed
depending on the tension fo your work, the type of
yarn and the thickness of the bags.
The rug should be firm and lie perfectly flat. If it buckles, the
tensions is too tight. If it's floppy the tension is too loose.
For the center of the rug, use just yarn.
Ch 5 and sl st into first ch to form a ring; make 8 sc in ring.
ROW 1: Taper the 1st 10 inches of the strip and place it behind

making 2 loops of yarn on hook. Carch another loop of yarn and

On the following rows, repeat the patterns given below all the
way around.
Row 2: Ch 5, sc in ea sc.
Row 3: Ch 3, sc in center of ch, ch 3, sc in sc.

Row 6: Ch 7, sc in ea sc
Row 7: Ch 4, sc in center of ea ch, ch 4, sc in sc. Continue
and repeat rows 4 through 7, until your rug is the desired size.
