  8.       1 sm Size 8 knitting needles

  10.   KNIT FEATHER AND FAN AFGHAN

  14.   Gauge:  each 2 sections equals 7" wide, each 4 stripe will measure 4" deep.

  16.   Yarn required:  3 skeins each of 4 colors
  17.  
  18.   Needle required:  Size 11" long  (I use a round needle - much easier for
  19.   me)
  20.  
  21.   With 11" needles and Color A, cast on 188 stitches
  22.  
  23.   Border - Knit 4 rows.  Change to Color B.
  24.  
  25.   Patttern Row 1 - Knit 4; Knit 2 together twice, *(yarn over, knit 1) 4
  26.   times, knit 2 together 4 times, repeat from the * across, ending with (yarn
  27.   over, knit 1) 4 times, knit 2 together twice, knit 4.

  29.   Rows 2 & 4 - Knit 4, purl across to the last 4, knit 4
  30.  
  31.   Row 3 - Knit
  32.  
  33.   Change to Color C.  Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern.

  35.   Striping pattern:  4 rows of A, 4 rows of B, 4 rows of C, 4 rows of D.

  37.   Work even in striping pattern until 18 stripes of each color have been
  38.   completed (working the last 3 Color D rows in all knit for the border).
