Invitation For Papers, Articles, Columns, Fiction & Artwork
------------------------------------------------------------
CARTOUCHE e-magazine is distributed bi-monthly nationwide via
US Postal Mailings and electronic data communications transmission.
CARTOUCHE chronicles crafting and achievements in crafting techno-
logy, and serves as an idea exchange for craft users interested in
developments and the historic perspective of the crafting industry.
Lifestyle articles, columns, fiction and artwork are reviewed by
the Editors.

Scope of Papers, Articles, Columns, Fiction & Artwork
-----------------------------------------------------
The Editor invites papers and articles that discuss crafting
software applications from the perspective of the average computer
knowledgeable craft user. This to include instructional articles
containing patterns and examples in .PCX, ANSI or ASCII format.
Short stories are also being accepted. They should examine techno-
logical and computer aspects of crafting. The genres of science
fiction, speculative fiction and traditional fiction are acceptable
as long as the basis for said story is crafting.
The Editor invites crossword puzzles and cartoons that have obvious
craft or computer crafting oriented crafting themes.
The Editor invites computer artwork in GIF, PCX and ANSI format.
To further promote the exchange of ideas on where, how and why we
use crafts CARTOUCHE will also invite papers and articles that
examine specific topics in each issue.

Instructions To Submitters
--------------------------
The Editor is now accepting submissions in either official language.
Either official language interpreted as printed english or ascii
text in english. (See How & Where To Submit Material)
a) Articles & Papers:
* With each article or paper, submit a half-page outline that states
the purpose of the study, research, discussion or investigation,
basic procedures used, main findings, and the principal conclusions.
* Maximum length of research/opinion papers is 5000 words.
b) Lifestyle Articles:
* With each lifestyle article, submit a half-page outline that sum-
marizes the content of the article, and which clearly defines the
craft oriented theme that is being explored.
* Maximum length of lifestyle articles is 2000 words.
c) Columns & Hardware/Software/Printed Publication Reviews:
* Please submit a series of three columns or reviews.
* Each column or review may explore an autonomous theme.
* Each column or review must be presented in its entirety.
* The maximum length of columns/reviews is 1500 words.
d) Fiction:
* CARTOUCHE allows any number of stories to be submitted by each
contributor.
* Maximum length of stories is 2500 words.

Illustrations
-------------
CARTOUCHE is a full-color journal that uses colour photographs to
augment craft articles, columns and reviews. Illustrations and pho-
tographs should be of high standard, and should have excellent reso-
lution. Suggested size is 4x5. Well defined computer-generated
illustrations and good quality black and white tables can also be
scanned for publication. Please note that, to ensure legibility
during the scanning process, all captions and table text should be l
arge and clear. Color limitations are set at 64 color, 640 x 480
or 320 x 200 to allow all computer formats to be able to see
the graphic files presented.

How & Where To Submit Material

* Send your submission on paper, or on a 3.5" IBM-compatible disk, to:

* Texts should be left justified.
* Margins should be set to 10 (left) and 70 (right)
* Please use a text editor that composes files in ASCII format ONLY.
* To have your manuscript or disk returned, please enclose an SASE.
Physical manuscripts not having SASE will not be returned.

Authors should obtain written permission to republish photographs,
drawings, tables, etc, and excerpts from previously published material.
Please enclose a copy of authorization with your manuscript, disk or
artwork. Responsibility for proofreading text rests with the author.
The owners and editors of CARTOUCHE are not responsible for the content
of articles and papers, or for errors and omissions in manuscripts
reprinted in CARTOUCHE.
Once published in CARTOUCHE, Cartouche Publications reserves the right
to reproduce and distribute articles and papers, in print or electronic-
ally.
CARTOUCHE reserves the right to implement all changes deemed necessary
to make previously unpublished articles and papers ready for publica-
tion.
