  4.          Kiddy Krafts: Fabric Crayon Ideas

  6. I have a toddler daughter, and I like to involve her in the crafts that
  7. I'm doing, whenever possible.  (My mom always encouraged me in crafty
  8. things and whatever.  She never discouraged me by telling me that a
  9. project was too difficult to do.)
  10.  
  11. Anyways, I wanted to share the project that we did together recently.
  12. I sat her down and let her draw "pictures" (rather abstract, she's not
  13. even two yet) on paper using fabric crayons.  I asked her to draw
  14. pictures for her grandmas and aunts.  Then I ironed the pictures onto
  15. fabric.  I placed thin batting or craft batting behind the fabric and
  16. quilted the fabric randomly all over using a long straight stitch and
  17. my zipper foot.  I then cut the fabric into a rectangle and made it
  18. into a lined cosmetic type bag with a zipper at the top.  I added the
  19. recipients name on the outside of the bag using my mom's computer
  20. sewing machine. (You could embroider a person's name or use a permanent
  21. marker, instead.)

  23. The bags were a hit!  Other things you could make out of the fabric
  24. could include pillows, eye glass cases or coin purses.

  26. It was fun involving my daughter.  I hope this idea helps someone to
  27. come up with a gift idea for a relative or sparks other ideas.
