- Kiddy Krafts: Fabric Crayon Ideas
-
- I have a toddler daughter, and I like to involve her in the crafts that
- I'm doing, whenever possible. (My mom always encouraged me in crafty
- things and whatever. She never discouraged me by telling me that a
- project was too difficult to do.)
-
- Anyways, I wanted to share the project that we did together recently.
- I sat her down and let her draw "pictures" (rather abstract, she's not
- even two yet) on paper using fabric crayons. I asked her to draw
- pictures for her grandmas and aunts. Then I ironed the pictures onto
- fabric. I placed thin batting or craft batting behind the fabric and
- quilted the fabric randomly all over using a long straight stitch and
- my zipper foot. I then cut the fabric into a rectangle and made it
- into a lined cosmetic type bag with a zipper at the top. I added the
- recipients name on the outside of the bag using my mom's computer
- sewing machine. (You could embroider a person's name or use a permanent
- marker, instead.)
-
- The bags were a hit! Other things you could make out of the fabric
- could include pillows, eye glass cases or coin purses.
-
- It was fun involving my daughter. I hope this idea helps someone to
- come up with a gift idea for a relative or sparks other ideas.
