  5. Dawn Scotting (dawn@pandoras.nacjack.gen.nz) organizes international round
  6. robin groups for counted cross stitch samplers.  The following is from her
  7. posting:

  10.    There are two different groups, both counted x-stitch, basically the same
  11.    rules apply to each.  You can choose from either:
  12.    1) A 'Pot Luck' group, where any sort of fabric for your sampler may be
  13.       chosen.
  14.    2) A 'Linen/Evenweave only' group, where the name says it all, absolutely
  15.       NO aida allowed!

  17.    There are 9 people in each group who choose their own fabric, colour, theme
  18.    & size, the sampler is yours to keep.  Monthly, each sampler is sent around
  19.    the chain for each person to work a segment in the theme of each sampler.
  20.    Segments should be kept to within about a 50-80 stitches (either way) size
  21.    limit, less than 50 and it's hard to find a pattern, more then 80 could
  22.    mean you'd be in a hurry to finish it within a month.  However, long &
  23.    narrow segments i.e. 100x20 are okay.  The only extra cost to you is the
  24.    price of airmail postage each month, please be prepared to post out of your
  25.    own country although this may not be the case.

  27.    Beginners as well as experienced stitchers are all welcome.  A leader will
  28.    be appointed to send a list of themes to everyone in their group.  FULL
  29.    instructions will be posted to each person when their group starts.

  35.      4) If you are prepared to be the leader of your group
  36.    Your name will be added to the next list, this may take up to 3-4 weeks to

  43.   The Spirit of Cross Stitch Festival

  46. This four day show is aimed exclusively at counted thread stitchers.  It
  47. travels to 4 cities in the U.S. each year.

  57. envelope for each city that interests you.  Indicate on each envelope which
  58. city's information you want.  The registration packets are sent out
  59. approximately three months before each Festival.

  72. Classes run for four days, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.  The Merchandise Mall
  73. (vendor show) runs for three days.  A one day pass to the Mall cost $5 dollars
  74. in 1993.

  90. Advertised as "America's Largest Sewing-Quilting-Needleart and Craft Supply
  91. Show and Conference", this traveling show is scheduled to be in 30 cities in
  92. 1994.  It reaches most areas of the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska.

  102. The Creative Art Festival is advertised in Just Cross Stitch, as well as many
  103. quilting and sewing magazines.

  105. It is a three day show with classes and a vendor show aimed at stitchers,
  106. quilters and sewers.  Previous shows received good reports from attendees.

  109. fabric and craft stores

  118. is open to all stitchers at all skill levels.  They are an excellent source of
  119. information and instruction for all styles of needlework.
