  2. provided in the Timeworks Publisher User manual.

  5. Ammendments to the user manual
  6. ==============================
  7.  
  8. Due to late developments in the software of this product, the 
  9. Timeworks Publisher User manual is incorrect in the following 
  10. areas.
  11.  
  12.  
  13. Installation guide
  14. ------------------
  15.  
  16. Please note the following points when <Installing step by step>
  17.  
  18. 1.   <Modify an existing installation> is currently not 
  19.      supported. If you need to change your setup then you must 
  20.      perform a <New installation>.
  21.  
  22. 2.   For point 6 you should turn to the Appendix of the 
  23.      installation guide for a list of compatible printers as a 
  24.      list does not appear on the screen.
  25.  
  26. 3.   For point 9 highlight <Install> not <Save this setup and 
  27.      install>.
  28.  
  29. Please restart your ST system before running FONTWID not when 
  30. its finished as the manual suggests.

  32.  
  33. Keyboard shortcuts
  34. ------------------
  35.  
  36. The keyboard shortcuts below should be used instead of those 
  37. listed in the section entitled ⌐Moving around the document¬ on 
  38. Page 205 of the User manual:
  39.  
  40. [Shift] [Left arrow]     Move to the previous page
  41.  
  42. [Shift] [Right arrow]    Move to the next page
  43.  
  44. [Shift] [Ins]            Go to the first page of the document
  45.  
  46. [Shift] [Clr]            Go to the last page of the document
  47.

  49. Default style sheet
  50. -------------------
  51.  
  52. For non hard disk users this style sheet can be found on your 
  53. STARTUP & OVERLAYS disk not on the DATA disk. 
  54.  
  55.  
  56. Defining a frame border
  57. -----------------------
  58.  
  59. Read this section if you import bitmap images into Timeworks 
  60. Publisher. Bitmap images are produced by packages including Degas 
  61. and Neochrome and in formats including .PCX and .IFF files.
  62.  
  63. You may wish to import a bitmap image, such as the sample file 
  64. TIGER.IMG, and define it's border so that text can be flowed 
  65. irregularly around the shape of the image. If you intend to print 
  66. documents which use this feature, you must use an alternative 
  67. method of defining an irregular border. This alternative method 
  68. is described below: 
  69.  
  70. 1.   Import the text and picture files that you wish to use and 
  71.      place them in the required frames.
  72.  
  73. 2.   Position the frames as you wish them to overlap.
  74.  
  75. 3.   Select the frame containing the text and click on Bring to 
  76.      front in the Page menu. This will move the text frame over 
  77.      the picture frame.
  78.  
  79. 4.   With the text frame still selected, click on Frame tint in 
  80.      the Options menu and select Clear from the Visibility box.
  81.  
  82.      You should now be able to see the picture behind the frame 
  83.      containing the text.
  84.  
  85. 5.   With the text frame still selected, click on Repel text in 
  86.      the Options menu.
  87.  
  88. 6.   On the Repel text form, select Define border for the Left or 
  89.      Right border as required. Now draw a border around the 
  90.      picture which you can see underneath the text.
  91.  
  92. 7.   When you have finished drawing the border, double-click to 
  93.      display the Repel Text form again. Check that Repel Text 
  94.      This Frame is set On.
  95.  
  96. 8.   Click on OK to remove the Repel Text form. The text frame 
  97.      now has an irregular border which traces around the picture.
  98.  
  99.      You can reposition the frames and redefine the text frame's 
  100.      border to improve the flow of text around the picture.     
  101.  
  102.  
  103. If you experience any difficulties using this alternative method, 
  104. contact Softline on 0480 496600 for assistance.

  106. This alternative method is required to avoid a problem which is 
  107. caused by the Atari GDOS printer drivers. This problem will be 
  108. resolved when we receive the new printer drivers from Atari Corp. 
  109. Please complete and return your registration card to ensure that
  110. you are informed when we have resolved the problem.
  111.  
  112. NOTE: Follow the instructions on Pages 141-144 in Chapter 5 of 
  113.       the User manual to define irregular borders around pictures
  114.       which are NOT bitmap images.
  115.

  117.  
  118. Using Timeworks Publisher
  119. =========================
  120.  
  121. To improve the performance of Timeworks Publisher, we suggest 
  122. that you do the following:
  123.  
  124. *    Enable Hide all pictures in the Graphics menu so that any 
  125.      pictures in your document are hidden. This will allow 
  126.      Timeworks Publisher to work more quickly.
  127.  
  128. *    Remove any desktop accessories that you are using.
  129.  
  130. *    Ensure that the AUTO folder on your boot disk only 
  131.      contains GDOS.PRG.
  132.  
  133. *    Do not attempt to use FSMGDOS.
  134.  
  135. Symptoms of shortage of memory are as follows:
  136.  
  137. *    During program startup, a message informing you of the 
  138.      inability to load an overlay.
  139.  
  140. *    When displaying a page, a message appears informing you
  141.      of a graphics display failure. This will occur if the
  142.      page contains an imported metafile or some graphic elements
  143.      drawn with the internal tools.
  144.  
  145. *    When printing, some of the fonts you have chosen do not
  146.      appear or appear in a reduced point size.
  147.  
  148. Single and dual disk drive configuration are limited to the 
  149. basic set of fonts due to the limited space on the fonts disk. 
  150. Single and dual disk drive configurations cannot have more than 
  151. one printer installed because of the limited amount of space on 
  152. the fonts disk.
  153.  
  154. Non auto booting hard disk users will need to copy the ASSIGN.SYS 
  155. from the root of their hard disk to the root of their boot up 
  156. disk and make sure there is a copy of GDOS.PRG in the AUTO 
  157. folder.
  158.  
  159. All font sizes in the font selector with a small black circle next
  160. to them are doubled up fonts and as such their print quality is 
  161. not as good as the other fonts. 
  162.  
  163. Users of G+Plus are advised to turn off the 'Font Warning' feature 
  164. in the G+Plus Accessory as Timeworks Publisher does not load 
  165. fonts on printing that the page does not require. If it is 
  166. left on you will be informed of all the fonts not being used.
