EDITORIAL 5/7/91
====================
Inside Info #53 has been delayed, as the Secretary (Jeff) is having
difficulty procuring floppy disks at the cut rate for bulk purchase -
our usual supplier has sold out!
My thanks to Phillip White for editing I.I. #52. Any members who
would like to produce an issue of Inside Info, either on disk or
the traditional paper format, please contact me on 597 2156.
Atari Corp's inability to supply their computers in sufficient
quantities, here and in the US, should be on the way to being resolved.
With the sale of their Taiwan plant, Atari computers will be manufactured
by contractors. Atari Corp claims they will be able to ship 25,000 units
per month into the USA. Atari Corp will no longer have an excuse for not
advertising their ST(e)/TT line in the US (and Australia).
Mega ST(e)s and TT's are now available from Atari Australia, though
Alistair Campion says the last shipment has sold out, with the next
lot due to arrive in a few weeks. As Inside Info No 53 goes to disk,
Tony Troth in Mosman still has a few TT's in stock - phone 969 1421.
PRICES : - Mega ST(e) 2 including 50 mbyte drive - $2,495.oo
(Aus $$$) Mega ST(e) 4 including 50 mbyte drive - $2,795.oo
TT 8 mbyte RAM & 50 mbyte drive - $5,495.oo
TT VGA monitor - $795.oo
In recent correspondence InfoDisk's programmer, John Hutchinson writes
that he has sold his Mac II fx, and bought an Atari Mega ST(e) !!
Hutch is moving house, again. See his network message under ACE BBS.
Hutch continues to develop the InfoDisk program, new features are
soon to be added.
ACE BBS now has a new 9600 baud modem, which will reduce cost of the
club's international calls. See Swavek's message in ACE BBS, regarding
Compuserve coming downunder direct, from July 16. This should
should spur Genie into making real their promised (since February) direct
access. To now, these services have only been available via Austpac,
at high rates. Though still expensive for the average modem user, at
$32.00 an hour, the resources on these services (PD, shareware, product
information) can be made available to ACE members, if we share the costs.

ERRATA - Due to bungling incompetence on the part of the editor, II#51-
editorial referred to the KAOS desktop replacement program as 'illegal'.
In fact a demo version (auto folder) is available on ACE BBS, and quite
legal.
