Steem Engine
(STE Emulating Engine)
The Freeware Windows STE emulator
Welcome to the Steem Engine website. Here you will find everything to do
with the Steem Engine project.
10th October 2000: The debug build of Steem is now available, if you fancy
trying to track down a bug then download it now from the programmers page.
Something else new today is the Steem discussion mailing list, if you have any
ideas or problems discuss them with us (the programmers) and other users. Any
subject is permitted, preferrably something about ST emulation! :-)
9th October 2000: Version 1.1 of Steem has arrived, this is no minor
update, there are major bug fixes as well as new features, here's a list: Zipped

HBL interrupt fixed. Improved syncronization generally.
Fixed MFP timer counter reset bug - fixing most palette switching problems.

More forgiving for disk images, 84 tracks allowed.
Fixed very rare but major tint whole screen blue crash.
Fixed STE DMA sound for early versions of DirectSound.

More TOS images accepted.
Easier window sizing options.

Many little GUI bugs that nobody probably noticed fixed.
Go to the download page to get your copy.
Steem is a STE emulator for Windows. It has taken about a year and a half
to get to its present state where it runs the vast majority of ST software
without problems. One of the best features of Steem is that it is very easy to
use, almost all its options can be toggled while the emulation is still running
to see the effects they have. The usual knightmare of setting up virtual hard
drives and finding/switching disk images is a doddle using Steem's disk manager.
You can easily set up and use use any axis or any button of any joystick
supported by Windows to control the ST joysticks.
So give Steem a try today and enjoy all the fun of the ST!
Steem's website is hosted by NDO, a great UK ISP.
