THE ADVENTURE COLUMN
Welcome to the adventure column, hopefully this will become
a regular feature of ON-DISC from now on. This column will
act as a forum for your views, hints and tips on adventuring
on the ST. I want to hear from all you adventurers out there
so send in your hints and tips for any adventure and in
return you'll get your name in print ( not to mention the
fame and fortune that comes along with that! ). This way I'll
be able to share them with your fellow adventurers who I'm
sure will be very grateful! If you have any problems with a
particular adventure then send them in and I will include
them in the column ( hopefully with an answer! ).
Send in your letters, solutions, hints etc on disk or letter.
As usual all contributions on disk will be rewarded with PD
software. I'm sure that you're all dying to get your name in
print! Elsewhere in the magazine you should find a review of
Leisure Suit Larry. Anyone who has played the game will be
familiar with the question routine at the start. I have
included answers to most of these questions for you to print
out ( I'm too kind! ). It took quite a while for my
friend and I to compile the list. I hope I haven't missed
any! I'll be printing more hints and solutions in the future
so keep buying ON-DISC!
If you haven't heard already Level 9 are being published by
Mandarin Software. Who are they? A good question, Mandarin
have been set up by Database Publications ( Atari ST User etc
). Apparently they have a million quid in the coffers to use
in software acqusition etc. Hopefully this means some quality
releases from them.
Rumour has it that Incentive Software Ltd are about to
release GAC for the ST. It will be renamed STAC and will be
an improvement of the popular eight bit version. To the
uninitiated GAC stands for Graphic Adventure Creator. This
utility allows you to create your own adventures and is a
complete package for adventure writing. All that you need is
a good idea and some creative writing.
There have been some good budget adventures produced by
utilities of this type ( and some bad ones! ). Although it
remains to be seen if STAC adventures can compare with the
likes of Magnetic Scrolls. By the time you read this it may
well have been released!
HINTS AND TIPS SECTION
This section will be the part you write so don't delay, write
today! To kick of this first edition here are some tips for
Sierra's Leisure Suit Larry:
Read the writing on the wall a few times.
Use the phone outside the store then answer it after you've
come out of the store.
To get past the bouncer find the membership card in the
ashtray.
The girl likes lots of presents!
The girl likes to dance!
You find the weirdest things in trash bins.
Why did the adventurer cross the road ? Because he likes
getting run over!
Look in the sink for a girl's best friend.
Hmmn, the fourth floor of the hotel looks interesting.
The security guard looks even more interesting!
The Pawn
To kill the adventurer give him the chest.
To move the boulder tie the rake and hoe together with your
shirt.
Use the white to 'kill' the snowman.
To get the white fill the bowl with snow, give it to the
guru, go to the tree stump and mix the contents of the bag.
Don't forget to take the rope after you've tied it to the
hook or you'll fall to your death when you try to go down!
To cross the rocky terrain you'll need the horse with no
legs ( kill the adventurer and take his horse ).
To get the posion ask the Devil about Kronos.
Guild of Thieves
The treasures you require are as follows:
The incense burner, the sheet of music (under the stool ),
the diamond ring, the china pot, the oil painting, the dress,
the ivory rhino, the brooch, the platinum chalice, the
diamond ring, the ruby, the gem ( found in the wax ),
plectrum from the miller, mineral chips and the statuette.
Don't miss the rat race and don't forget to pick the best
odds!
Don't have any money to bet with? You're supposed to be a
thief! Look in the cushion.
Planetfall
Wait till the fireworks start then go into the escape pod and
strap yourself in.
Take everything before you open the door and swim up.
Floyd can be a help as well as a pain!
Well that's it for this issue, I hope it's wet your appetite
( who said no ? ). Don't forget to send your letters,
solutions etc to:
Kevin Cheung
49 Villette Rd
Hendon
Sunderland
Tyne and Wear
SR2 8RD
Remember the word processor is mightier than the sword!
Next issue should see reviews of Jinxter and Time and Magick
( with a bit of luck!). See you next issue and happy
adventuring!
