Scanner Review
~~~~ THE NAKASHA SCANNER ~~~~
=============================
~~~~ REVIEWED ~~~~
==================
~~~~ BY STEPHEN GAFNER ~~~~
===========================
I obtained this scanner last week. I have had many scanners in my possesion
but none that I can remember well enough to give an acurate review. The
Naksha scanner cost me around £120 and is an excellent scanner - One of the
best that I have ever owned infact!
The Nasksha has two rubber rollers instead of wheels and I found this gave a
smoother feel to the scanner and the rollers will probably end up outlasting
any wheels, it also allows much steadier scans.
The dither patterns are of superior quality compared to other scanners and
I was very pleased with some of the results.
The scanner comes along with a program called 'Touch-Up' (or it did when I
purchased my scanner anyway) and this program can handle a numer of formats,
those being the following:
DEGAS, GIF, TIFF, IFF, MACPAINT, PCX and IMG files. If you are saving in
Monochrome then images can be saved in 16 geyscale IFFs or 256 greyscale
TIFFs. Touch Up is an excellent program and is a complete art package with
all of the expected functions and more.
To top it all off, the head is bigger to make scanning even quicker and
easier.
POWER RATING:88%
A NOTE FROM POWER:
Thanks for that Stephen, I could do with a few more reviews such as yours,
one point though, when reviewing, could you TRY and have an UPS and DOWNS
list at the end of the review. It just makes a good summary that's all!!!
Anyway, thanks again for the review and I hope you write some more for
POWER. Oh, thanks for the scanned pictures, you may well see some appearing
in the next issues slide show. By the way, if anyone can design me a new
logo or send me some piccies for the slideshow then I would much appreciate
it and you would be fully credited!
Thanks!!!
