BY JAMES L. MATHEWS
Hello and welcome to another CHIT CHAT. Chit Chat is still
quite a new column but judging by your letters, it is quite a
popular column. I need to know more about your favourite and
worst columns though so that I can enhance POWER further. For
more details, read the 'YOUR OPINION' articles on this disk and
then fill in the small interview thingy on the root directory
(not in any folders) of this disk. Just load it up into your
word processor, fill it in and then save it to disk, print it,
write it out or whatever. It helps ME to make a better issue for
YOU!
I've just finished a very long session with GRANDAD AND THE QUEST
FOR THE HOLEY VEST and I completed it after loads of thinking and
mucking about with it. I must say that I was very dissapointed
with the ending. I was simply produced with about 15 lines
saying that I had completed it and that was that. No animation,
music, not even a single extra sound. After trying so hard and
getting a crap ending, you feel really let down and I expected a
really good ending on a game of this quality. When I finally got
to the chest that had the vest in, I was expecting a little
animation sequence or a nice tune but I didn't get anything.
Ashame really but at least I can say that I have done it and I
can now go and try GRANDAD 2 knowing that I have completed the
first one.
Last month, the main topic in CHIT CHAT was about AMIGA P.D being
cheaper. There are P.D.L's that sell both on the Amiga AND Atari
but for some reason the same P.D.L sells their disks cheaper on
the Amiga side. I was wondering why this was.
Well, I heard from an 'X' P.D.L owner that used to operate on
both the Amiga and ST. He has now stopped as he wasn't making
enough money but he said the reason for P.D being cheaper on the
Amiga was because ALL the P.D.L's sold their P.D cheap.
Therefore you had to stay in competition with them and also,
because buying P.D from other P.D.L's for your OWN collection was
cheaper, you could sell your collection off cheaper as well
whereas it is more expensive to get hold of them in the ST scene
so therefore they must be SOLD slightly more expensive to make up
the difference. I suppose it makes sense in a way, but even so,
SOMEBODY must have started off cheaper Amiga P.D than ST
otherwise we wouldn't have this. Anyway, I don't suppose it
affects many of us as I trust that we are all loyal ST users and
the thought of an Amiga literally makes you feel sick. Am I
right? Good!
Well, the Christmas issue is coming up and that should be good,
then, the following month on New Years Day, POWER will be one
year old!!! Hip hip hooray!!! I want to make issue 12 the
biggest disk magazine issue ever and make it a four disk
extravaganza so please send in as much P.D, articles, reviews and
everything else as possible so I can really make this the best
celebration yet. Come on, POWER will never be one year old
again!
I must say, that POWER has come so much further than I ever
expected. When issue 1 was first finished and released, it all
seemed so crap and as if it would get no where, now, a few months
in the future, I have loads of people reading, a massive world
wide spread, loads more contacts and a licenceware deal. Through
POWER I also joined POWERFIST PRODUCTIONS and POWER has brought
me lots more than I ever thought.
Anyway, I won't say anymore as issue 12 will be full of that
stuff, but please DO send in your stuff now so that I can get to
work on it NOW because there is no way that if I DO go for a four
disk issue that I'll get it all done in just one month! I've
already had a decent intro from Ken Reader (Cheers mate!) but if
there's anyone else out there that can do one then please do
because I will need at least four intros (one for each disk).
Well, enough of that and I think that's enough of Chit Chat for
this month as well because I've run out of chitty chatty things
to type and what use is that for a column called CHIT CHAT?!
Enjoy the rest of POWER and I hope to see you in issue 11 next
month!
Byeeee!!!
