You know the Talking Message Creator that I reviewed in issue 7
of POWER, and STOSSER disk magazine that I reviewed in issue 9,
well this is by the same bloke; Tony Greenwood and he is also the
one that is working on a custom shell for POWER, however, my
review will not be biased.
This is a computer conversion of a game that we have ALL played
at one time or another but for some reason, it has never been
taken over on to the computer. What game am I talking about?
Spot the difference is the answer to that dear lad!
The game was originally going to have about 30 pictures all with
set differences, but instead, the author has opted for eleven
pictures and random differences. This means that you could load
up the same picture twenty times but each time get a different
set of differences to spot. This way, there is an endless amount
of playability there to be had.
The pictures have all been drawn very well and are of great
quality in a cartoon style.
There is about six pieces of music which is picked at random
every time you turn off the music and then on again. The music
isn't anything special and is just some basic chip tunes but
there's a couple of good tunes there and you can always turn the
music off if you want so there's no problem there really at
all.
As I said, the differences change every time but I haven't
completed one single picture yet. The differences are tiny and
consists of tiny little blocks being cut out of certain parts of
the picture. Although this idea works quite well, I think it
should have been made a bit clearer.
You have to spot ten differences in each picture and I always get
up to nine but never find the last one which is really annoying
although I have NEVER been good at these things.
Control is via the mouse, you have the two pictures set in front
of you and you simply click on where you think the difference is.
If it is correct, your score goes up by a point and the
difference is marked with an 'X' so you can see that you have
done it. If it WASN'T a difference then you get a 'miss', five
misses and it's game over. You are also against the clock and it
all makes it incredibly hard.
The game is P.D and can be obtained from me in the normal way and
should be quite enjoyable for a while.
~~ POWERFUL ~~
Differences change every time.
Good graphics.
Option to have music.
Easy to use.
Original conversion (if there's such a thing as an original
conversion!).
~~ POWERLESS ~~
Just a bit too hard.
It's not something that you'll be playing hour after hour.
POWER RATING:80%
POWER COMMENT:
"A good idea done in a good way but just like the original game
on paper, it's not something you'll be playing every second of
the day. Good for a while though and worth getting!"
