| |--- =========| CHIT CHAT
| |---- //
|-------/
BY JAMES L. MATHEWS
===========================================================================
Cor blimey! It's time to do another Chit Chat already?! Mmmm, it seems as
if it's just after I've finished the Chit Chat for the previous issue, I'm
already working on the next one. Oh well, I'm sure that you all enjoy
reading my dreadful witterings which as the months pass, get worse and
worse as I have less and less to say.
Well 1994 is here then, wow! Hasn't it gone fast? POWER has changed such
a lot since its first issue. I've made the changes very slight and brought
them in slowly so as not to shock the system so that you are adjusting to
what seems a completely different magazines as some other mags do, but if
you read this issue and then read issue 1, you'll see what I mean about the
difference.
For a start, there is now MUCH more content of a higher standard with loads
more contributions from the readers. Also, we have a new shell which is
exclusive to POWER, we have got rid of some of the old columns back from
issue 1, and we have brought in new ones, infact, the only column apart
from the likes of The Editorial, The Final word and similar that has stayed
with us since issue 1 of POWER has been DIARY OF AN ST USER. This has been
emensley popular although I can't for the life of me see why. However, our
ST USER may be writing his last entries very soon as ideas are wearing thin
and contributions to that column have been very small.
Talking of contributions, CHIT CHAT is now open to you all. Please feel
free to just write down a load of old crap talk and send it to me for
inclusion in the CHIT CHAT column as I'm sure that the readers are getting
bored of reading what I have to say and want to see more from other people,
so get writing! Your chit chat can be about anything you want, you've seen
my Chit Chats, just write your own, there should be no problems and I'm
sure that you can all write better stuff than me!
I am getting shorter and shorter on time nowadays. Firstly, I have school
which I have to put first and as I am getting nearer to GCSE's and the
like, more work is needed and therefore I get less time on the computer.
Then, when I AM on the computer, I have hundreds of contacts to write to
(infact, my contact list is at its peak at the moment with literally nearly
200 of you writing to me on a regular basis...I spent over £50 on stamps
last month!) which obviously takes up a hell of a lot of time. I then have
all of POWER to sort out (to see what goes into making an issue of POWER,
read, 'MAKING AN ISSUE OF POWER' in issue 11), I have advertising to sort
out, lots of customers, I am sorting out my P.D. collection for POWER P.D
and I've got lots of other projects on hand plus my regualr output of disks
such as SPL samples and I want to start work on a new STAC text/graphic
adventure soon. I DO enjoy it all, but I now have so much to work on that
it's amazing so I need even more input from all you lot out there than ever
before.
I started off having just about 20 contacts. I then started up POWER and
keeping in contact with a few people and writing POWER were my only
projects really. Now, I have well over 10 projects that I am working on,
10 times as many contacts and much higher expectations to live up to....I
LOVE IT!!!
Well, I've still got LOADS to do for POWER and I still don't know how many
disks this issue is going to be but I've only got about 6 days before
release date (1st January 1994) and I've got a hell of a lot to sort out
and do. I always feel as if POWER is going to be late but I always get it
out on time (with the exception of POWER #9 which we had copy problems
with) but this time, I really DO think that it might be a bit late as to
make it a worthwhile multi-disk issue (which I want to do and which you are
all expecting) I've got to write a lot more than usual and I am hoping for
a bit more stuff from you lot to put in here by release date.
Anyway, that's my problem, not yours, you're obviously reading this, so
whether it was late or not, you eventually got a copy. Meanwhile, although
you are now reading the finished product of POWER, it's not yet finished
(if you know what I mean) so I better be off now. Enjoy 1994 and I hope
that POWER keeps by you in this new year!
Bye!
