--- BY CHRIS SHARP ---
Well, I really don't know what I'm going to talk about this time. This is
the 21st issue of Power disk magazine. Soon, Power will be reaching its
second birthday, and I think it might be a good idea to have a theme of
birthdays on that particular issue. Why not send in your birthday greetings
for the messages section, or program an intro with a birthday theme?
Everything is appreciated by James, so get coding and writing now.
It appears James got a tad confused last month when he said I was moving to
America. Hmmm, James, I can't imagine how that could have happened (shuffle,
groan). You see, it all happened when James told me that he was going to
send me loads of free stuff for my ST. Being the trusting type I am (he
means gullible! - POWER), I believed him. But then, I found out he was just
playing a little joke on me. Then, I happened to mention to James on the
phone that I was moving to America (long story). He took the bite, so I just
carried on with the joke. Poor chap! He couldn't believe it when I informed
him it was a joke! Maybe I should tell him I'm going to live with the
natives of the 'Ngoru Guru' tribe in africa. He'd probably believe me... (I
even dedicated last month's issue of POWER to Chris as well because he said
he was leaving...I dunno...Some people! - POWER).
As I write this, results for the A-levels have just been announced.
Unfortunately, one of my friends has failed, but will be re-sitting them in
December. Hopefully he'll do better than he did this time.
Oh dear, I'm already running out of things to say, and I've not even written
3 paragraphs yet! Mind you, by writing this, I *AM* writing a third
paragraph so I guess in a way this is a third paragraph, even though I'm not
writing about anything in particular(?!).
I've just seen the first issue of ST Beermat, which is pretty good. However,
the selective swearing system doesn't seem to work on anybody's computer but
mine. Could be a TOS problem, although I don't really know for sure. Plenty
of articles, though I have heard rumours that this issue took 2 years to
produce, so I guess we're in for a long wait until the next one. Hopefully
though, I'll be proved wrong, and the next one will be released shortly?
Does anyone still buy those glossy ST magazines? I think they stopped
supporting the ST range long ago, but I can't be sure as I don't read them
anymore myself. I only ever buy them when there is something decent on the
coverdisk, but nowadays there rarely is. Does anybody want or even need
another word processor? No, I didn't think so (well, if you do, come to
POWER P.D. where disks are so plentiful yet so cheap that you'll want to
fall off a log for no apparent reason - The POWER P.D. propaganda squad).
I seem to be receiving less mail these days, but I still send out the same
amount as I always do, and I am still in contact with as many people as I
used to be. I don't understand it. Maybe I'm getting slower to reply, I
don't know, but I remember when I used to get maybe 5 or 6 letters a day,
now I'm lucky if I get 1 every two days! Mind you, gives me more time to
reply I suppose.
Ryan Simpson has just released a disk of animal rights articles, which
although I haven't received a copy yet, should be interesting. It's good
that someone is taking a stand for what they believe in. Ryan sent me a
petition to fill in, calling for the banning of fox hunting. I don't know
how that went, but I hope it was a success. How about an article for POWER
telling us about it Ryan?!
I've just been reading the Jolly Roger Cookbook, and the information
contained in that is very dangerous! It amazes me how people find out about
things like the information contained in it! However, I believe that people
should have the right to information like this. It's not good to censor
material like this, if that were even possible.
Lastly, I hope you enjoyed reading this, but I expect that you didn't.
Still, at least you can appreciate the interesting articles now!
