Hello!
This is p ST NEWS q Volume 4 Issue 2, the 23rd issue of the only big and very
international disk magazine in the world. This issue does not only feature the
usual reviews, tips & tricks and feature articles as well as adventure
solutions, but also incorporates the first ever monochrome sinusoid-wobble-
frooble scrolling demo, a great color demo screen featuring loadsa tricks, and
a world-exclusive and truly uncensored 'real time' article about a visit to
some certain rather notorious people from Germany.
How to copy it
This disk magazine is Public Domain and may be copied freely, but is formatted
with 81 tracks (0-80) and 11 sectors per track, and can therefore only be
copied using programs like "Copystar 3.0" or "ACopy 1.2" (non-protected mode).
"FCopy" will not do the job! You should use a good quality disk to assure data
safety. If you want to copy it to another disk or to harddisk, just open the
target window and drag the icon of the drive in which the p ST NEWS q disk is
located onto it. Wait a while....and that's it!
The hyper-format we used has a small disadvantage: It makes disk access a bit
slower than usual.
The U.B.S. (Unique Bootsector Scroll)
Another thing you might have noticed already: There's a true SCROLLING MESSAGE
contained in this disk's very BOOTSECTOR! Stefan did some frantic coding and
hectic optimizing, and managed to squeeze all the code for a smooth horizontal
hi-and low-res scrolling routine that works on ALL ST versions into just 256
bytes of the bootsector (try to beat THAT)! This is the tiniest smooth
horizontal scroller for two different screen resolutions ever written for any
computer system worldwide!
How this disk was finished
April 1st and April 2nd 1989, the peaceful Posthuma residence was crudely
disturbed by two computerfreaks who were running around the house carrying a
wonderful Awai walkman, recording every sound; from the opening of booze
bottles to keyboard-bleeps. YES... we recorded a real-time article on audio
tape! Ronny Hatlemark sent us a crazy letter on a C-60 tape and we decided to
send back an even more crazy letter on TWO C-90 tapes. Now poor Ronny has to
listen to THREE hours of utter madness. But p ST NEWS q was finished despite of
all the nonsense and it is again a truly magnificent issue.
The p ST NEWS q home vid'
Yeah! You read it well: We will soon make a VHS video tape where the 'Making
of ST NEWS' is brought way beyond a computer's audiovisual dimensions! But
don't start sending us money right away, since it will only be made in ONE copy
which will be sent to the guy that mostly deserves it: Ronny Hatlemark!
It WILL be done. It WILL get ready! We're loaded with ideas! It will be GREAT!
The twenty-fifth issue
In the summer of this year, we will launch our 25th issue of p ST NEWS q and we
feel that it is a reason to celebrate. Volume 4 Issue 4 will therefore feature
something that will stun the world! Curious?! Well, just wait until the launch
of p ST NEWS q Volume 4 Issue 3, which will feature a preview article!
Yeah....it WILL stun the world, and maybe even the solar system, the milky-
way, the universe!.....ahem. Forgive us for getting carried away.
Well, anyway. We have to stop. Bye, bye! Have fun reading p ST NEWS q !
Sincerely,
Stefan Posthuma & Richard Karsmakers
P.S. Are you still here?! Get on with it! Read this issue instead of hanging
about all the time!
