  6.  Well, I have to admit that I really don't know a lot about  the Atari compared 
  7. to everybody else who reads this magazine.  But  I do know a bit about  science 
  8. fiction. So, here it is...

  11.   Babylon 5 
  12.   ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 
  13.  
  14.   There is continued worries among those who have seen the  latest episodes  of 
  15. season four in America that if Channel Four  keep Babylon Five in it's  present 
  16. tea time viewing slot that it  will be HEAVILY cut. There is a petition against 
  17. this  and if you  e-mail your details of name,  age and town/city you  live  in

  28.   Also JMS is presently writing series four of Babylon on the  assumption  that 
  29. there will be NO SERIES FIVE!

  31.  However, don't worry as this is not to bad, There are two  spin off confirmed.

  33.  THE BABYLON PROJECT:  CRUSADE,  is going to be about the  Rangers. This should 
  34. hopefully feature Jason Carter as Marcus  Cole.
  35.  
  36.  The other THE GATHERING is all about the Earth Minbari war.   So hopefully  we 
  37. can find out stuff like what happened to Sinclair  when he was  captured.  This 
  38. prequal  will  detail  the  exploit  of   Sheridan,   Gariboldi  and   Ivanova. 
  39. Unfortunately this is only  going to be on TNT's cable network.  (arghhhhhhhhh) 
  40. but  as we are  all going to have TV digitalised in the autumn so  anybody  who 
  41. can   still afford to get TV after shelling out £200+ for a decoder can   watch 
  42. it as TNT will probably be one of the channels digitalised.

  44.  So,  that's that it on Babylon Five.  If there is anyone out  there who hasn't 
  45. bought the Babylon Five books,  don't.  I wouldn't  say they are crap, just you 
  46. can  buy  much  much much much much  better books for the  same  price.  (  but 
  47. B5:Clarke's  Law by Jim  Mortimore is good,  I haven't yet read B5:Betrayls  by 
  48. S.M. Stirling  either so can't pass judgement yet.)

  52.   Channels (5) 
  53.   ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 
  54.   For  all you people out there who can get (5) (b@st@rds) here   is  something 
  55. abut  what  you can get ( if you are like me in the  40% of  the  country  that 
  56. can't get it, skip this bit.) 
  57.  
  58.   All  five Telemovies of Alien Nation are going to be screened  on  (5)  later 
  59. thing year. They are better than he original film  and look good.
  60.  
  61.  Lexx is a new series of Telemovies which are, well, twisted.  They are kind of 
  62. a  cross between Hitch Hiker's Guide to the  Galaxy and a really  epic  science 
  63. fiction film, except that they  are also from some very strange twisted people.   
  64. Basically  Lexx is about a big bug that flies round space  blowing up  planets. 
  65. There are quite a few Telemovies, four in  total.

  67.   " Worship the Shadow" 
  68.   " Super Nova" 
  69.   " Eating Pattern" 
  70.   " The Giga Shadow" 
  71.  
  72.   They will all be on (5) this summer.

  74.   The Telefilms include great scenes such as somebody having  their brain  took 
  75. out, and special effects to make Babylon Five  seem like Thunderbirds.

  77.   Videos 
  78.   ¯¯¯¯¯¯

  80.   The Alien Nation Films and Lexx are all coming out on video  on  Fox  (rental 
  81. only) and Persons New Entertainment respectively.

  83.  DARK UNIVERSE,  I can' remember who made it but really,  you  have to watch it 
  84. for  a laugh.  It has the worse acting in history.   Eldorado n  a  masterpiece 
  85. compared  to this.  The same bloke dies  at least three times,  and as for  the 
  86. special  effects,  I  am  sure   the  small mutant  animals  are  made  out  of 
  87. plastercene.

  89.  All the money they had went on three morphing scenes ( they  could have used a 
  90. Falcon,  but no, they went for spending the  money on a super fast PC(scum) for 
  91. three  scenes,  I think.)  Anyway,  the spaceship at the beginning  looks  like 
  92. something off  Blue Peter and as for the plot, well.
  93.    
  94.   RED DWARF:  SIX OF THE BEST.  this contains:-  
  95.   Future Echoes,  
  96.   Queeg,   
  97.   Polymorph,   
  98.   Dimension Jump,   
  99.   Back To Reality  
  100.   Gunmen of the Apocalypse.   
  101.   Also Starbug Hologram and collectors CD.

  103.  It is a disappointment not to have DNA on the videos as this  in my opinion is 
  104. the best episode ever.  But Polymorph and Back to  Reality are great.  Queeg is 
  105. the  funnyest  while  Gunmen of the  Apocalypse is the  most  recent  one.  Not 
  106. surprisingly none of  series VII is on it. ( I wonder why). So, let's hope that 
  107. Rob   Grant and Doug Naylor make up and become friends,  as with only   one  of 
  108. them  doing  a  series is a bit naff as we end up  with   something  like  last 
  109. series.

  111.  This is available now and can be go from Virgin and,  wait  for it,  all  good 
  112. video stores.  ( always wanted to say that)  Books, havn't read any new science 
  113. fiction books, but I  recommend every book Robert Rankin ever wrote.

  115.   Well,  bye,  hope you with Channel (5) have fun watching all  those great  SF 
  116. programs( I'm not bitter).

  118.   It's  worth noting everything on Alien Nation,  Babylon Five   and  Lexx  was 
  119. ruthlessly nicked from SFX magazine.  Febuary 1997  and April 1997.   If you're 
  120. interested  next  issue  of SFX has an interview  with Kate  Mulgrew  (  Voyger 
  121. captain)  Stuff on how Diskworld was  animated and reviews of very  episode  of 
  122. Lois  and  Clarke (boo,   hiss) American Gothic,  Sapphire and Steel  Ad  Alien 
  123. Nation.
