Dear Readers,
I noticed while compiling the list of user groups for the database
that is now a permanent feature of ST+ that there were massive gaps the length
and breadth of Britain where there are no user groups representing that area.
Durham and Cleveland along with Cumbria are totally devoid of user groups,
North and South Yorkshire are nowhere to be seen, Manchester and Liverpool
appear to be the same and so on throughout the land.Am I to believe or have you
believe that there are no Atari owners in these areas.Of course not, there must
be thousands of owners in Britain unaware of the support that is still there
for the Atari.
Now lets take Birmingham for example, a city of several million, a user group
starts and thirty people attend the meets regularly, are we to believe that
there are only thirty Atari owners in Birmingham, of course not.there are
probably a couple of thousand more that may have just bought their Atari in the
last two years that have no idea of any support for their computer for whatever
reason so they sell on and the next owner sells on and so forth.
We all need each other, the companies need us, though not as much as we need
them.we need programmers to stay with our platform or to at least find it
viable to write programmes for us as well as other platforms and not abandon
the scene completely.
Action is needed by all of us to help swell the numbers again, after all, the
computers and owners are still out there, There are several ways to do this as
I pointed out in a earlier issue of ST+.lets hope this time it does not fall on
deaf ears.
Everyone reading this, and I do mean everyone, please place an ad in your local
free ads paper, or newsagents, anywhere that is free and let all those Atari
owners know of ST+ and other diskzines and Atari Computing.
User groups remember that because twenty or so turn up does not mean that is
all the owners in your area.Pd's do you have people from the likes of Yorkshire
or Manchester, how about sending them a copy of this file.
And perleease do several things everyone, subscribe to ST+ and Atari Computing,
we need them as much as they need us, inform owners through the ads in
magazines and drop a line to ST+ letting Dave know what you are doing to help.I
am depending on you just as much as you are depending on the likes of myself,
Dave and others.
GO FOR IT, TOGETHER WE CAN KEEP THE SCENE HEALTHY.
