MAGAZINE DATA BASE
Faithfull followers will have 54 glorious issues of 'User, but
can you remember what's in them? MagBase will jog your memory
Atari ST User is a goldmine of useful information, hints, tips and help. Make
sure you don't lose out by keeping track of your magazine contents with this
powerful, custom designed database program.
MagBase can be used to store brief details about every article in each
month's magazine. A number of magazines can then be stored in a binder.
Powerful search facilities enable you to search for specific items in separate
magazines, whole binders or right from issue one!
When a .MAG file is loaded from disk its window appears on the desktop,
displaying the binders contained in the file. Each binder contains a number of
magazines. A binder may be opened by double clicking on its name and the window
will then display the list of magazines which are contained in the binder.
(More than one .MAG may be opened on the desktop as each is given its own
window.)
Each magazine contains a number of articles which can be accessed by double
clicking on the appropriate magazine name. The article form allows articles to
be added to the list, deleted, altered, printed and so on.
A new magazine file can be created by using the Open File menu option and
entering a filename which does not exist on disk. Binders and magazines can
then be added.
New binders can be added to the current file by selecting the Add Binder
menu option. A dialog box is displayed allowing the binder name and year to be
entered. This operation can only be performed at binder level. Magazines can be
added to a binder which is already open. A dialog box is displayed and the
magazine date, volume and number can be entered. Articles can be added through
the article form after double clicking on the appropriate magazine.
The Sort Articles menu option sets the way in which the articles are to be
sorted in a file. If there is more than one file the option to sort all the
files in memory is offered. All articles subsequently entered will be sorted in
this way. Binders and magazines are always sorted by date and year.
To search for one or more articles the search data is entered in the Search
Options dialog box. This will start the search at the first article in the
first file. Once the first article has been found the next one can be found by
clicking on the Search button on the article form.
