ST DRIVE PROTECTOR
Viruses are a constant threat to your system - one slip like booting up with a
borrowed disk without first checking it and the the nasty critters are in the
micro and destroying the data on your disks. Hard disks require special
attention because they hold so much information. The only 100 per cent safe way
of removing a virus that has invaded your hard disk is to reformat it. That
means backing up 20Mb or more, formatting and then restoring the data which
isn't a particularly pleasant task.
The ST Drive Protector is a neat little desk accessory that enables you to
write protect any or all of your disk drives. Copy the program to your boot
disk or partition C of your hard drive then re-boot. Click on the accessory on
the Desk menu and then select the drives and partitions to protect.
(Protector is also useful for preventing children wiping out valuable
programs and data from your hard disk drive.)
