About the copyright.
======================
This program may freely be copyed and spread around, infact that's the only
way this program may be spread. All comercial rights are owned by the athour
of the program and this text document as well. This document MUST be included
with the program file! Othervise it's not alright to spread it, since it
includes some vital information!
Even though a small sum may be taken out for the distribution ,as well as for
the media (disk) and postage and packing (if there is a need for that). As
this is beeing written a normal disk of public domain software costs between
£.90 and £2.50, that's what I find resonable, however some firms are taking
out around £4.00 and that still don't include all postage costs, that is not
what I consider to be a "small sum".
If you like this product and uses it frequently, please send a decent
donation to the address at the end of the document. Then will I send back in
return the latest version of the program and if I have by then written any
other "intresting" or "fun" programs then they'll be included as well. Do
include the version number of the copy you currently have so I know if I have
a newer version to send. Logic? Yes. What may be a decent donation is all up
to how much you like/uses the program. Keep in mind though that one pound
(10Sek or 3DM) is hardly enough for disk, postage and packing.

WARNING!
==========
No responsability for destroyed hardware or software is taken, as you pressed
ALT-Help it's all up to you, a hint though: Don't activate the program while
accessing the hard disk or in any other moments when the computer is working
hard! As some people has a weird attitude to document files and nerver reads
them ,or understands them if they occasionally would read one are no
resposability either taken if this document would be read and then still
hardware or software are destroyed, some people reads really bad.

1. What's this??
It's a printer dump utility. What did you think? The difference between this
one and the other ones on the market is that it dosen't make a graphic bit-
map dump of the screen. The original one installed in the ST/TT on boot-up
makes a graphic dump, that really takes time to go through. This program
breaks down the bit-map image on screen and analyses it (a bit like a an OCR
program) and out on the printer with it's defalt text font comes a printed
page of text. The text are printed just like it's on the screen with 80x25.
The whole procedure is over in a few secounds.
HOW TO USE IT:
Press Alt-Help with your printer switched on, and online. Don't do it during
printing an other text or while the harddisk is working hard. Some programs
may crash! So save your work!
2. Why This?
As I've been a ST owner for soon 4 years have I discoverd it's good and not
so good and realy awful sides. The original page dump is under the label
"ARGH!" to you newcomers does the ST a bitmap screen dump that:
1..Takes time.
2..Eat's ink/toner/ribbon.
3..Don't looks to good on a non Atari Matrix printer.
When it comes to point 1, not much do do about that, graphic is allways slow
unless you have a Laser printer, I don't have a laser. The secound point is
about economy, have you seen what a dump like that really does to a ribbon?
And the third have (i guess) all Epson (or compatible) printer owners bumped
into more than once. I have a rather old and slow printer, a Epson FX-80
compatible or to be exact a Seikosha Sp-180AI. Those of you who knows what
that is smiles now and shakes his head saying "He, He....".
I have (more than once) been reading a READ.ME file on screen, and suddenly
bumped into a part that I realy would need a printed dump of. If can be
everything from the solution of a programming problem or a quick reference
part for a specific program. What to do then? Well if there is only a few
lines one can press ALT-HELP and re-boot when the wanted part is printed. Or
load the document into a editor and print a block of the intresting part. Or
print the whole document.
3. Get it?
Now I hope you have realised the point with this program, it prints out
quickly the wanted page without any fuss. Noted should be that text in
windows may case some problems, but I hope to have solved that until a later
version upgrade.
The program works only in Hi-res ST (640x400) and is not compatible with Hi-
res graphic cards. Compability with TT-High res (1280x960) is on the list
over options to be included in the near future.
The program sends only ASCII data to the printer and may therefor cause some
problems with international characters like 8-bit ASCII chars, 7-Bit ASCII is
no problems. National language support will also be included in later
versions.
Graphics or un recoginzed characters are ignored and a space (ASCII Code 32)
is sent instead.
4. Technical information.
The program is written in 100% assembler code using Hi-Soft Devpac II, it
divides the screen into a matrix of 80x25 with one byte wide positions, each
one of those positions are 16 lines high. The program compares then each one
of the positions in the matrix with the standard Atari hi-res font. Therefor
won't the program work with Harlekin or other programs that installs a
"alien-font". When a match occures it's been sent to the printer using GemDos
for maximum compability between versions of hardware/operating system. If a
spooler it beeing used that it will spool this as well. If it does not
recogise a position then a blank is been sent to the printer (#32).
The program supports the XBRA protocol for program information interchange.
On address XBRA minus 4 is the version number found. The program aborts
installation if it's already installed or is a newer version in installed,
it's all displayed on screen while installing. Installed and ready the
program occupies less then 5k of memory.
The program replaces the original printer dump routine at address $502 in low
ram. It's then activated by pressing ALT-Help.
5. Things that will come:
* National language support.
* TT-High res support.
* Dump to disk option, creating a text file instead.
* Advanced charcter rotation so that text that is not on byte boundarys will
be rotated into correct position, that allso includes a dynamic line space
routine.
* Built in spooler to increase speed.
And what you suggest! Come with ideas, complains and ofcause loads of money.

Last word:
To software houses:
If you would like to buy the rights for this program then contact me, we can
always arrange that, me making a outstanding version that can be sold for big
bucks.
To Public Domain librarys:
Spread it! Though if you take out a large sum for the program (see page II
for what I mean) then I wont be to happy. Send a donation, so that you won't
be the only one making money on my work, after all who should be making the
bucks, you who spread it or me who spends time with making it???
To you:
Sorry if the english isn't to good, after all I'm just a Swede. And it's
getting quite late and I'm going to send it tomorrow.
As Ray Cokes says:
...it was crap but we loved it...
