  1. - THE ULTIMATE VIRUS KILLER --------------------------------------------

  3.  In   this   folder  you will find a cut-down version of  the  "Ultimate 
  4. Virus Killer" version 5.4 - version 5.4D.  This program is published  by 
  5. Douglas Communications and written by Richard Karsmakers, especially for 
  6. "Atari ST User". Run the program by doubleclicking on the PRG file.
  7.  
  8. 1)  You  can NOT kill any viruses with this demo version.  In  the  real 
  9. version you can kill as many as  you want, of course.
  10. 2) You can have a look through the list of harmless bootsectors that can 
  11. be  repaired,  but  you cannot write them to your disks with  this  demo 
  12. version.
  13. 3) There  is  no documentation with this demo version  of  the  program, 
  14. except for this file.  The real version has several documentation files: 
  15. A manual, a list of currently known viruses, and a version history file.
  16. 4) You  CANNOT update this demo version,  nor can you have  unrecognised 
  17. bootsectors   analysed   by the author (!).   The REAL version  can   be  
  18. updated  virtually at cost price,   and any unrecognised bootsector  can 
  19. then be sent in for analysis.
  20. 5) On-line help mode is not included.
  21. 6) Many small add-ons have been removed.

  25. - Extensive recognition of viruses and resident programs in memory.
  26. - Support of (MEGA) STE, TT, Metados, Gemini, NeoDesk, KAOS-TOS/Desk and 
  27.    ST Book.
  28. - Automatic recognition of any drives/partitions attached.
  29. - Automatic check of any whole drive/partition for link viruses.
  30. - Context-sensitive on-line help mode.
  31. - Works on ANY resolution,  and regardless of the amount of memory  that 
  32.    is found.
  33. - Documentation  includes  a  full list of known  viruses  with  precise 
  34.    description of symptoms.
  35. - And a LOT more!

  48.  The whole program kinda speaks for itself. All you need to know is that 
  49. the whole thing is built up around a special kind of alert box that  can 
  50. be used with the function keys (listed on the left of them),  the  mouse 
  51. or your cursor keys (up and down).  Default ones are  highlighted,  non-
  52. selectable ones are displayed in a light font style.  You will find that 
  53. the REAL version does not have as many unselectable options...

  55. damage  caused  through  use or misuse of the  "Ultimate  Virus  Killer" 
  56. software.

  60.  This  demo  version  was coded during a morning of listening to Fear of 
  61. God's  "Within  the  Veil",  quite a spectacularly  good  CD.  Dig  Paul 
  62. Gilbert's "Tribute to Jimi Hendrix" and DO NOT FORGET to get yourself  a 
  63. copy  of  a  Llamasoft  shareware game at your  local  PD  library  (and 
  64. register  it,  too).  Especially "Llamatron" is slightly  brilliant  and 
  65. infestingly addictive (ahem).
