  13. This update was made to allow EDFILE to be used with CP/M
  14. machines whose cursor keys default to WordStar's diamond pattern
  15. (^S, ^D, ^E, ^X).  Although the old version provided a patch area
  16. for cursor codes, the ^E and ^X conflicted with built commands to
  17. toggle between the hex and ASCII areas of the display and to
  18. abort the edit, respectively.

  20. The command to toggle between the hex and ASCII display areas has
  21. been changed to ^T.  The command to abort the edit has been
  22. changed to ^Q.  The documentation has been modified to reflect
  23. these changes, as have the built-in help screens.

  25. Two earlier patches have also been incorporated into this
  26. version:
  27.  
  28. 1.  From Dennis Recla, Dallas, Texas, 1/10/84, fixing an error in
  29. the Cursor up and Cursor down portion of the program.  The
  30. original version dated 01/09/84 had them reversed.  The doc file
  31. was revised to correct the same errors in it.  I also added a
  32. short paragraph describing the proceedure for writing the changes
  33. to the memory buffer, and to use CTRL-C to write the memory
  34. buffer to the disk.

  36. 2.  From Clint Lew, South Bay Techincal Support RCP/M , 9/84, two
  37. small bugs.  The first bug limited the size of the file to which
  38. direct jumps could be made.  In the original version, for files
  39. greater than about 8000H, the "dump relative address" or "A"
  40. command would not consistently jump directly to all addresses. 
  41. (Actually the address jump limit was dependent upon the file
  42. size).  The second bug was a minor problem in that a jump to an
  43. address which happened to be on a sector boundary would send you
  44. to the block before the desired block.
