FANFOLD VERSION 21 for CP/M 2/05/90 (c) PD Support RON ROCK
V.21 (2/05/90)
An update of FANFOLD V.13 to V.20b which provides:
FANFLD19 & 20 have been withdrawn. The DU: redirection would fail under
certain circumstances, now corrected. In version 20 the corrections
induced another bug now corrected. In version 20 correction of a
printer install problem prevented NOT writing the printer code to
file. V.21 corrects the problem. Version 21 is also somewhat smaller
with a TPA to D180h. Added screen information and corrected a screen-
write mis-code of long standing.
The INSTALL procedures have been enhanced and much simplified. See
also V.20 below.
V.20 (2/2/90)
1. A much simplified installation procedure. To install FANFLD20.COM
just enter "FANFLD20 INSTALL" and you will be guided through the printer/
default choice/terminal installation procedure. The following files should
be present on a single drive/user area:
(all the files present in FANFLD20.LBR which are not Doc's)
FANFLD20.COM
FANINS20.CHN
FANTRM20.COM
FANTRM20.DTA
FANTRM20.MSG
YOU MUST INSTALL FANFLD20 FOR YOUR COMPUTER/PRINTER. Eariler installation
files will not work. The values should be re-entered as needed.
Unfortunately FANFLD20.COM's End: has been changed to D200; the Start
remains at 21A0. Thus, your TPA must extend to at least D200h. If
you invoke "FANFLD20 INSTALL" and do not get an "OUT OF MEMORY" message
you will be able to run FANFOLD without increasing your TPA.
The code increase is needed to provide for the INSTALL option.
2. Several "Bugs" in the DU: redirection have been stamped out.
Any drive between A-P and any user between 0-15 should be available.
CP/M's page 0, byte 04h is used to set the DU: as is the standard.
The upper nibble contains the User and the lower nibble the Drive.
It is likely that even if your system does not accept DU: commands,
you now will be able to use them within FANFOLD.
3. The Pre-Format, Format menu and Doc's have been re-worked to improve
utilization.
PLEASE LEAVE ANY MESSAGES AT ANTELOPE BBS 312-764-5162 (Carson Wilson,Sysop)
FOR ME, RON ROCK.
Among others, Ed Grey and Eric Pement's comments have been very helpful.
Thanks Ed, Eric and all the others who keep wondering why this or that
feature is "missing"!
BE SURE TO READ BELOW:
-----------------------------------------
V.13-V.19
1. The installed printer name on screen, for those with more
than one printer installation. v.14
2. All or part of the Source file may be viewed and or printed to
disk or the installed printer. If only a few pages of the <fn>.FAN
file are needed, you will now be asked; after the R>un command for
a Start page and End page. v.14
3. You may choose LESS than a 66 line/page format. Useful for dividing output
for fanfolded card stock (3x5,4x8, etc.) or 8.5x11 paper "on edge" for a
spreadsheet printout. IF fewer than 66 lines are selected, FANFOLD will ask
for the LPI for printing. You must select the proper format for the card stock
used. (24 lines at 6 lines per page will not fit on a 3x5 card BUT it will at
8 LPI, etc.) FANFOLD will output <CR>'s rather than a formfeed to "fill a
page" as necessary. v.14
4. FANFLD15.DOC has been updated. v.15
5. The pre-format parameters are now placed in the first line of the
intermediate <fn>.FAN file rather than the last line. Access to the
format menu is now much faster when the <fn>.FAN file is the source
file. v.15
6. When a source file has been entered as a command parameter ( A> FANFOLD
MYTEXT.DOC), a new file may be entered for processing without exiting
FANFOLD. Other obscure "features" or "bugs" corrected. v.15-v.19
Some users are not aware that entering an <ESC> in response to a prompt
in the opening menu will enter all remaining default values... a time
saver in most cases.
------------------------------
These additional "features" require a larger available TPA of D220h.
The "smaller" TPA versions of FANFOLD (see FANFLD13.LBR) are not included
in FANFLD20.LBR since there seems to be little need for them.
If you must have a smaller version continue with v.13 or drop me a
line with your available TPA if you are a Registered User.
