  16. NOTE: The only advance over v2.0 of this library is the inclusionáì
  17. of SLMQUIET.COM, which is nothing but a version of SLM which doesáì
  18. not write a banner or any other text to the console screen.  Thisáì
  19. may be preferred for inclusion in aliases and other shell scriptsáì
  20. for aesthetic reasons, but the user should note that, failing aáì
  21. sound from the printer, it may be almost impossible to knowáì
  22. whether the program has or has not run.

  24. These two programs are for Z80 and HD64180 based computers andáì
  25. daisywheel printers using the Diablo 1610 command set, whicháì
  26. includes many popular Brother, Comrex, Dynax, and other models. áì
  27. They set the left and right margins on your printer respectively.áì
  28. They have only one command:
  29.  
  30.     SLM n or SRM n
  31.  
  32. where n is a number from 1 to 255.  SLM sets a left margin ináì
  33. column n, SRM a right margin in column n.  Typing SLM or SRMáì
  34. without a number shows you a program banner and help screen butáì
  35. has no effect on the printer.

  37. Margins can be cleared by switching power to the printer off oráì
  38. by setting the left margin to 1 and the right margin to a numberáì
  39. larger than the width of your paper.

  41. Note that the right margin setting is fairly brutal.  It does notáì
  42. wordwrap.  It will trim off anything beyond the margin and printáì
  43. it on the next line.  The result of setting a right margin to theáì
  44. left of the left margin is also fairly nasty.  It doesn't makeáì
  45. any difference which order you set the margins in, but make sureáì
  46. the number for SLM is smaller than that for SRM.
