Bernadette from the Song v5.0 106
EXT. McMAHON HOUSE - MORNING
Norma McMahon drive up to the house, goes to the door, and
lets herself in.
INT. McMAHON HOUSE
She puts down some parcels and collects the mail put through
the slot in the door. Bernadette calls to her from the
living room. Norma rushes to the door.
NORMA
(breathlessly)
Mary-Elizabeth! Is that you...
Thank god!
BERNADETTE
has been quietly awaiting her. She has taken the time to
clean up and change into a simple summer dress that makes
her seem very womanly.
BERNADETTE
Mom... you'd better sit down. We
have some talking to do.
NORMA
Are you... all right?
BERNADETTE
Yes... of course...
Norma would like to rush to her daughter to take her into
her arms but doesn't know how. She is already intimidated by
Bernadette's tone. She doesn't know what to do. She notices
the windows, which have been thrown wide open, their
curtains blowing in the breeze.
NORMA
For heaven's sake! The windows...
What ever got into you...
BERNADETTE
It's a beautiful day, mom! Let
some air in.
NORMA
What if it rains? This weather...
It's nearly winter...
BERNADETTE
Sit down, mom.
Norma sits, slowly, uneasily.
