This is your Sixth Hang-Gliding lesson, in this lesson you will meet another
element which makes soaring possible - the thermal.
A thermal is a circular region of air that rises vertically from the ground,
it is caused by the sun heating the ground .
Much like water boiling in a teapot, the thermal is characterized by a circular
area of rizing air, outside this area the air is usually descending .
To make use of a thermal the glider must fly in a circular path around the
center of it, ofcourse in real life one cannot see the center but in this
simulation you can see them.
To complete this lesson you have to land on top of the hill, that is above
your starting point, there will be no ridge effect to use this time, but
there will be a large thermal waiting for you by the sea, use it to gain
height until you are high enough to glide down into the path marked by
the checkpoints.
By passing through the checkpoints you will accomplish your first top
landing.
After successfuly finishing this lesson, you will have all the necessary skills
that make a perfect Hang-Glider, you will master wind and ridge effects,
you will know how to use thermals, and you will know how to come back
for a landing just meters from your starting point where you parked your
car...
