  123.         planes, and with the option to tune performance during The
  124.         Championship Mode,
  125.         compete against human flyers or the computer controlled "Crazy Aces"
  126.         in order
  127.         to win and achieve the best race time.
  128.
  129.         Once airborne, the player's objective is to get through each

  195.
  196.         Gray Menu / Gray Gameplay
  197.         -------------------------
  198.         If you do not have a 3-D accelerator and do not run "Plane Crazy
  199.         Setup"
  200.         from the Start Menu before launching the game, you may experience a
  201.         series of "gray" menus without text. To quickly fix this problem,
  202.         simply run "Plane Crazy Setup" and switch the Renderer to the
  203.         "Fearsome
  204.         Software Rasterizer". We recommend that you experiment with a suitable
  205.         resolution for your 2-D video board, but 640x480 is usually safest.
  206.
  207.
  208.
  209.         DirectX 5.2 Issues
  210.         ------------------
  211.         What is DirectX(tm)? - DirectX(tm) has been wholly developed by
  212.         Microsoft(c) to run under Windows '95/'98. The result is that programs
  213.         and software designed exclusively for Windows '95/'98 and that are
  214.         using
  215.         DirectX(tm) routines are able to talk directly to the graphic
  216.         hardware.
  217.         Therefore your games will run faster and your graphics will be
  218.         smoother. However, in order for DirectX(tm) to work properly you must
  219.         ensure that you have compatible DirectX(tm) drivers installed on your
  220.         computer.
  221.
  222.         You can download the latest end-user version of Microsoft's DirectX
  223.         from
  224.         the following web-site:
  225.
  226.         http://www.microsoft.com/directx
  227.
  228.         Once installed, you must ensure that DirectX(tm) is correctly
  229.         installed on
  230.         your system. To do this, you must run the following program. From the
  231.         Windows "Start Button", select "Run". An "Open" box will appear. In
  232.         the box field, type:
  233.
  234.         "c:\program files\directx\setup\dxsetup.exe" <-- you MUST include the
  235.
  236.         quotation marks
  237.
  238.         Then click "OK" or the "Enter" key. In the box that appears, you
  239.         should
  240.         have a list of all of the different DirectX(tm) components. All those
  241.         in
  242.         the list should have the word "Certified" and a version number listed.
  243.         If
  244.         some of the components in the list are not "Certified", you will
  245.         either:
  246.
  247.         a)Need to re-install the latest version of DirectX(tm) or
  248.
  249.         b)If reinstalling doesn't work, you will need to contact the
  250.         suppliers of your system and ask them to provide updated
  251.         drivers for Windows '95/'98. Web-sites are most likely
  252.         available.
  253.
  254.         The most common drivers in the list that aren't always updated are the
  255.         Display driver or the Audio driver. The Display driver is the Video
  256.         driver and the Audio driver is the Sound driver. If any of these are
  257.         not updating, obtain the latest driver from your supplier and once
  258.         installed, reinstall the DirectX(tm) program.
  259.
  260.         Note: At the time of this document, the latest DirectX(tm) version
  261.
  262.         number is 5.2. However, the actual "driver" numbers listed
  263.
  264.         in the DXSETUP component window start with the number 4.
  265.
  266.         Plane Crazy has been developed and tested with the most recent
  267.         versions
  268.         of the DirectX(tm) display drivers. Problems may be experienced while
  269.         running Plane Crazy with older display drivers. If you do encounter
  270.         such problems, contact your video card manufacturer to obtain the most
  271.         recent version of their display drivers.
