Xerostomia and mucositis were present throughout this patient's
treatment history, and extensive xerostomia-related dental caries
devastated the dentition of the maxilla and mandible. Eventually,
osteoradionecrosis of the mandible with an oral cutaneous fistula
developed. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy was not instituted, and
osteoradionecrosis of the maxilla developed, which eventually led to
death as a result of septic meningitis.
