This archive contains OS/2 16-bit protected-mode executables for
Elvis 1.5, the vi clone by Steve Kirkendall.
129787 4-Jun-92 22:58 color_elvis.exe
125797 10-Jun-92 00:25 fast_elvis.exe
14015 9-Jun-92 23:01 ctags.exe
11989 10-Jun-92 00:08 elvprsv.exe
10147 9-Jun-92 23:00 elvrec.exe
7125 9-Jun-92 22:59 ex.exe
10071 9-Jun-92 23:02 fmt.exe
11569 9-Jun-92 23:02 ref.exe
7125 9-Jun-92 22:59 vi.exe
7125 9-Jun-92 22:59 view.exe
7667 10-Jun-92 00:26 wildcard.exe
The color_elvis executable is Elvis compiled the "right way"; that is,
with different colors for highlighting, the status line, etc. It's
very pretty and 16 times slower than fast_elvis.exe, which uses simple
TTY functions for output. Needless to say, I use the latter exclusively.
For fast_elvis, if you use ANSI ON, ANSI will control the colors. If
it's set OFF, then the regular Elvis color will be used, but you may
find some of the previous colors leaking through at the cursor line. A
^F^B combination will take care of that in a jiffy or less.
The remaining executables were compiled with the fast_elvis options, but
I don't believe that makes any difference. I have not tested them very
extensively--ex, vi, view and wildcard work as designed, insofar as I can
tell, but I don't use the others and therefore haven't tested them. (They
did compile correctly, however. :-) )
Note that this is STILL a "quick and dirty" port (about 10 days' worth
now), so there may be some bugs lurking. There shouldn't be any problems
which affect file integrity, however, unless they were already in the pro-
gram when I started. Use at your own risk, etc. (I do. Beauty editor.)
