Multi-Talk V0.92
================
Multi-Talk is a multi-user teleconference chat program. It runs
on virtually all bulletin board systems capable of standard I/O
external programs. It has a wealth of internal commands with on-line
help. External commands can be configured. All commands are
operated on the basis of user levels.
When users enter the conference, they first enter a default
channel. From here, they can enter any accessible channels they
desire. A channel can be made public, private, isolated (no external
messages can enter), persistent (living without users), user limited,
etc.. The first user that enters a channel automatically becomes its
operator, who controls the status of the channel. He/She can
permanently boot a user out of the channel. He/She can also grant
operator status to other users in the channel.
Many types of messages can be sent. They include normal
conversation, whispers (private), action "noises", broadcasts,
invitations to channels, and others. A user may ignore a message
sent from other users or prohibit other users from reading his/her
public messages.
Through the preference menu, many things can be set. ANSI color
text output, profanity filter, default channel, user comment, etc.,
can be set. The preference file is loaded every time a user enters
the conference.
The power user can benefit from Multi-Talk's command-shell like
features. These features include a configurable prompt, variables,
command aliases, command line editing via control codes and cursor
keys, command line history support, and much more. Some variables
such as "$time" are automatically updated and can be used in places
such as the prompt, in a conversation, etc. Each user can edit
(externally) a command script, which will be executed every time the
user enters the conference.
The super user (eg. system operator) has full control over the
conference. He/She can do almost anything they want. They can log
public conversations, change any channel's status, boot anyone out of
any channel or the conference, alter a user's environment, and so
forth.
The demo version of Multi-Talk is limited to two users. For more
users, a registration fee is required.
