* TRINITY BBS NOTES *
If the screen flashs or beeps while you are trying to type something,
this means that the current window can not be written to. Just move the
mouse to the center of the screen and press the left mouse button.
This example setup's disk is full, do not write to it. Copy to hard
drive. The Pager.Snd file was deleted to save space, use any iff sound file
for the pager (Filename - Trinity:Pager.SND)
1.0b Updates :
Added Individual Message Reading.
1.0c Updates :
Minor Bug Fixes.
Added a Hard Drive Installation Program To Make It Quick And Easy To
Install Trinity BBS To Your Hard Drive (Highly Recemended!). To run
this program : Boot off your hard drive (do not boot the Original
TrinityBBS disk) and insert TrinityBBS Disk 1 and type at the Cli
prompt : CD TRINITYBBS: {RETURN} INSTALLHD {RETURN} and follow the
given directions. See Documenation For Detailed Installation.
1.1 Updates :
Several bugs have been corrected. A few modifications to the serial
handleing routines to make Trinity BBS more compatible with existing
high speed modems. If you do not like to use Trinity Utility to
change your configuration, feel free to use a text editor and change
the information within the configuration files. I crunched the BBS a
bit and it uses less memory, but hard drive users with 2.0 may require
at least 1.5 megs since the hard drive controller will use a large
amount of memory. The Documentation file has been LZHed to save disk
space on Trinity BBS Disk 1, but it is included on Trinity BBS Disk 2
in the bulletins directory unarchived as a readable bulletin file.
NOTE : Because of system complications, the InstalHD program will now
only copy the unique system files from the LIBS, FONTS, C, L
directories from Disk One of the distribution disks. The standard
files inside these directories should already be on your hard drive.
If not either copy them from your original workbench disk or from Disk
One of the distribution. Trinity BBS may not operate completely
without these standard system files.
1.5 Updates :
Several routines have been optimized for both speed and memory.
Detected bugs since last version have now been corrected. Several new
routines have been added :
* Multi-File Adopting. You are now able to adopt several files at once.
The BBS will check each file in the currect file area's directory to
see if it is already available for downloading, if not it will ask you
if you wish to add this file.
* The long awaited Dos Shell has been installed. The dos shell is not
recemmended for large amounts of cli access but definatly will do for
those small jobs you need to do remotely.
* NEW TEXT FILES : A set of special new text files have been installed.
These files are far from required but are very useful. These text
files are called ".SPT" (Special Program Text) files. Although these
text files can display any type of PARSAR text, there normal task is
to run online programs via the @#filename@ Parsar Command at odd
places in the BBS. Suppose you have a online program that counts the
total amount of messages posted and then designs and displays a top ten
posts from users. This count OLP program would need to be run right
after someone posts a message, this is where the "Post.SPT" file comes
in- it would run the count OLP right after a post is saved. At this
time there are six supported .SPT files and they are :
Maintenance.SPT - Ran/Displayed During Maintenance Mode.
Logoff.SPT - Ran/Displayed During Logoff Routine.
Post.SPT - Ran/Displayed After A New Message Post.
Reply.SPT - Ran/Displayed After A Message Reply Is Made.
Upload.SPT - Ran/Displayed After A File Upload.
Download.SPT - Ran/Displayed After A File Download.
* Speech On/Off Toggle. You can now toggle whether or not the BBS will
announce a user logging in via the narrator device. The toggle is in
the ENVIRONMENT menu list. A check mark states that speech is on.
* I am working on several new routines including a large Tele-Conference
(Multi-Chat) area that will be included in Version 2.0. This version
will only be available to registered SySops only, so register now and
get it as soon as it is released!
* Added a new Arexx command "SPAWN". This command makes Trinity BBS
more compatible with existing pfiles for Cnet. The reason I did not
put this command in earlier versions is because it is very important
that right after this command you put in the "EXIT" Arexx command
otherwise memory will be wasted which alot of pfiles did not include.
Trinity BBS HeadQuarters : 513-890-6992
The Number To Trinity Headquarters may change in the future due to
the fact that I will be relocating. The new number will be anounced by the
operator when you call the old number and included in future versions.
