Speaking with Stuart Sanders...sysop of the West Los Angeles "AmigaBoard"
which runs on an Amiga that has been outfitted with the 1 Meg internal
ram piggyback chip "hack" described in a file in this library...Stuart
tells me that it has come to the attention of the author of the hack
and others that there may be inherent problems without another slight
hardware modification.
There is a gent who lives in Southern California by the name of
Joe Frazier who has come up with a small hardware add-on (in addition
to the hardware mods described in the file) that will make this
mod behave perfectly PRESUMING IT WAS CORRECTLY SOLDERED/INSTALLED IN THE
FIRST PLACE!
Joe has come up with a tiny sub-board which he will build and send
to you for $25.00, for you to install. I do not have all the details
on this board, however it replaces the "Make512" software patch that
people have been using to tell their Amiga that the 1 meg of internal
ram is not all CHIP ram, but to use 1/2 of it for FAST ram instead.
Joe Frazier will accept phone calls concerning this matter at
1-714-595-5284 between the hours of 5:45 and 8:15 Pacific Standard Time
ONLY. Calls at any other hours will not be responded to.
Joe also performs the complete 1 meg internal upgrade on the Amiga for
approximately $200.00 if the Amiga is shipped to him and return UPS
fees are paid as well. Please call him for details.
The Amiga Zone neither endorses this hack or Mr. Frazier's abilities, nor
endorses any of you digging inside of your Amiga to perform hardware
modifications. You do so *at your own risk and peril!*, and the mod will
most certainly totally void your Amiga Warranty if such still is in effect.
This notice is posted in the public interest with permission to post
the above name and phone number. Further details may be obtained
from the AmigaBoard, 213-478-9788.
