Using TransLine
---------------
To use TransLine, just press command-option-return, then, the TransLine's control panel will bring to front. It allows you change the communication settings. You can click on the Status button to change the communication status. If the communication is on and the control panel opened, you can use TransLine as a casual communication tool. If you leave the control panel, leaving the communication switch on, you will be able to communicate in any Macintosh application (MacWrite, Microsoft word, Excel, MPW╔).
In such a case, all what is typed on the keyboard will be send to the selected serial line. All data arriving on the serial line will be inserted in the application as if they were entered at the keyboard. You can invoke the control panel when you like to change the communication settings or to switch off the communication.
Heard a beeb ?
--------------
You will hear a beep in the following situations:
- There is not enougth memory to output the control panel (it needs about 64k free memory in the current application, you may have problems with multifinder. For exemple if you try to open TransLine's control panel under the finder running multifinder, you will hear a beep instead of having the control panel unless you allow 260k of memory to the Finder).
- During startup when TransLine can't install itself.
