  1.             Logitech Windows NT mouse drivers

  4.  These Windows NT mouse drivers are still under development and have not 
  5.  been extensively tested. These drivers are provided to help Windows NT Beta 
  6.  testers utilize their Logitech mice under the October 1992 release of 
  7.  Windows NT.
  8.  
  9.  These NT mouse drivers are provided "as is". Logitech does not warrant that 
  10.  these drivers will meet users requirements, or that they will function in 
  11.  combination with other software or hardware which may be selected for use by 
  12.  users. LOGITECH MAKES NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATION ABOUT COMPATIBILITY OF
  13.  THESE DRIVERS WITH ANY PC-COMPATIBLE PLATFORM. IN NO EVENT SHALL LOGITECH BE

  17.  How To Install:
  18.  ---------------

  20.  Logitech Windows NT mouse drivers are provided in a self-extracting .EXE
  21.  file format. After you have downloaded LMOUSENT.EXE, proceed with the 
  22.  following steps:
  23.  
  24.  1] Copy LMOUSENT.EXE to a temporary directory on the hard drive (i.e., \TEMP)
  25.  2] Log onto this temporary directory by typing:
  26.  
  27.  CD \TEMP.............where TEMP is the directory in which LMOUSENT.EXE exists
  28.  
  29.  3] Uncompress LMOUSENT.EXE by typing:
  30.  
  31.  LMOUSENT.............then press Enter
  32.  
  33.  4] Start Windows NT
  34.  5] Select the RUN command from the FILE menu and type in:
  35.  
  36.  C:\TEMP\INSTALL......then press Enter
  37.  
  38.  6] Once the installation is completed, select Shutdown from the File menu
  39.  in order to restart NT and cause the new changes to take effect.

  41.  Note: The current mouse drivers are backed up to the same file names with the 
  42.        .BAK file extension.

  59.  This LMOUSENT.EXE contains two drivers:
  60.  
  61.  1) BUSMOUSE.SYS which supports all of Logitech BUS mice. The bus board 
  62.  address and interrupt jumper should be properly set. The Hardware Interrupts 
  63.  (IRQs) supported are 2,3,4 & 5 and the I/O address is 0x023C
  64.  
  65.  2) SERMOUSE.SYS which supports all of Logitech Serial mice. All Serial mice 
  66.  previously supported (before installing these drivers) by the old 
  67.  SERMOUSE.SYS driver are also supported.

  82.  These drivers are compatible with the Windows NT SDK October release. These
  83.  drivers will NOT work under future Windows NT releases due to changes in the
  84.  pointing device data report format. At the time of future releases of Windows
  85.  NT, Logitech will have new mouse drivers.
  86.  
  87.  Advanced features like orientation for the Logitech TrackMan line of 
  88.  Pointing Devices is not currently supported.
  89.  
  90.  Troubleshooting:
  91.  ----------------
  92.  
  93.  - If the mouse doesn't respond, make sure it works correctly under DOS.
  94.    
  95.  - These drivers are needed if you previously experienced a "jumping" cursor 
  96.    on the screen under NT. 
  97.  
  98.  - If you are using a Serial mouse under DOS, you may have to turn off your 
  99.    computer before restarting Windows NT or unplug the mouse to power it down,
  100.    otherwise the mouse may not be recognized under NT. An alternative solution
  101.    might be to reload the Logitech DOS mouse driver with the parameter "1200" 
  102.    to reset the mouse to 1200 baud. This can be done by loading the mouse 
  103.    driver under DOS by typing the following command:

  105.            MOUSE 1200
  106.  
  107. *  This is currently due to a limitation of NtDetect (part of Windows NT).
  108.   
  109.  - The installation program makes a few assumptions about the current values
  110.    in the registry. The changes to the registry are (use regedit if you need
  111.    to get back to the default):
